Glen Abbey Golf Club

This week the PGA Tour travels north to Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario for the RBC Canadian Open where GCSAA Golf Course Superintendent Scott Bowman has revamped the management style and cultural practices during his five months on the job to improve course conditions and health of turf. The typical July heat is Bowmans biggest challenge in terms of pushing bentgrass greens to tournament level conditions. He points to No. 18, a reachable par 5 surrounded by water, as a key point in every round that has provided many dramatic moments in previous tournaments. Glen Abbey is Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program certified and Bowman is working with tournament host RBC to showcase Glen Abbeys environmental plans, including pesticide reduction, wildlife sanctuary status, and the clean water act compliance of its ponds.
