QUEENSTOWN, Md. -- Smriti Mehra of India carded a 71 on Sunday to hang on and win the Hunters Oak Futures Golf Classic. Mehra finished at 3-under-par 213 for her second victory of the season.
Malinda Johnson shot a 67 to finish alone in second place at 2-under-par 214 at Hunters Oak Golf Club. Jimin Kang, a two-time winner on the Futures Tour this season, was one shot further back at 1-under-par 215.
Mehra opened the tournament with a blistering 66 on Friday, but struggled to complete a 76 in the second round Sunday morning after play was suspended Saturday due to darkness. The 32-year-old then buckled down in the final round for the win and $9,100.
Lindsey Wright, also a two-time winner this year, joined Young Jo in a tie for fourth at 1-over-par 217. Erica Blasberg, winner of this year’s Laconia Savings Bank Golf Classic, and Caroline Goasguen followed at 2-over-par 218.
