Last week’s winner, rookie Jin Young Pak, would like to win in the city where she now lives and practices, but Pak will get some stiff competition from Jenny Gleason of Clearwater, Fla., who plays out of the tournament’s host venue, East Lake Woodlands.
This year’s event marks the 25th anniversary return of the Futures Tour to the city where it started 25 years ago as the Tampa Bay Mini-Tour. The event will be contested on the South Course for the second year.
Jimin Kang, 2004 Player of the Year, captured the first of her two season wins last year in Tampa to move on to the LPGA Tour and leave this year’s title up for grabs.
