Callaway Golf announced Wednesday that they have signed Phil Mickelson to a “multi-year extension” of his existing endorsement contract with the company. Exact terms of the extension were not disclosed.
Under the extension, Mickelson will continue to play Callaway clubs and balls while using a Callaway staff bag during tournaments.
“When I joined the team at Callaway 10 years ago, I knew I was making the best decision of my career,” Mickelson said as part of a release. “And I feel even stronger about the decision today. Backed by innovative technologies, industry-leading products, and the outstanding R&D group that works so closely with me, I honestly believe that these next few years will be the best of my career.”
Mickelson, 44, first signed with Callaway in the wake of his 2004 Masters victory, and since then has won four more major titles while becoming the company’s highest-profile player. Mickelson is coming off a relatively poor season in 2014, one that included just a single top-10 finish on the PGA Tour and one in which he failed to win a tournament for the first time since 2003.
