Cobra Golf continues to update its offerings in the driver category with the 2014 introduction of Bio Cell and Bio Cell+. The idea with these products, company engineers say, is to further improve distance and forgiveness and make it easier for players to manage trajectory.

The BiO Cell is designed to do those things in a number of ways. For starters, it boasts an ultra-thin crown that allowed technicians to reposition even more weight low and back in the 460 cc clubhead, for a more optimum center of gravity and greater ball speed. At the same time, the equipment maker has upgraded Cobra’s E9 Face technology to enhance moment of inertia for greater forgiveness.

In addition, Cobra expanded its MyFly feature with this line to provide eight different loft settings, from 9 to 12 degrees, and three draw settings. And a strip on the sole that the company calls the SmartPad ensures that the clubface appears square at address regardless of the loft setting.

“Our research and development team focused on developing a driver that would deliver distance, provide consistency, keep adjustability simple yet effective and offer a great feel,” says Jose Miraflor, director of product marketing at Cobra Golf.

The BiO Cell+ is made for those players looking to lose spin on their drives. This version has a slightly smaller, 440 cc head and employs a multi-material crown that allows engineers to save even more weight there – and reposition it low in the head for a lower launch condition that is designed to produce a lower-spinning shot. It also features a more neutral bias as well as an eight-position adjustable sleeve.
