The PGA Tour’s first event of the season will feature 60 players on the Plantation course at Kapalua.
The Tour released on Friday the initial full field for The Sentry, which will be contested Jan. 2-5 in Maui, Hawaii. Golf Channel coverage will begin Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
This is the third consecutive year that the event will be held with an expanded field. The Sentry was long played as a winners-only tournament but is now open to qualifiers from the top 50 in the previous season’s FedExCup points list.
This year’s Sentry field includes 31 PGA Tour winners from 2024 and 29 players via the FEC standings, according to the Tour. It is the first of eight signature events on the season and offers a $20,000,000 purse with $3,600,000 to the winner.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will not be present as he sustained a right-hand injury on Christmas Day and had to undergo surgery. He will return for The American Express, Jan. 16-19, according to his agent, Blake Smith.
Viktor Hovland, however, was still listed in the field despite posting on Instagram what appeared to be a broken pinky toe.
