Carl Pettersson teed off on Sunday at Harbour Town with a one-stroke lead, then cruised to a five-shot win.
On the second hole of a playoff with Louis Oosthuizen, Watson hit a shot that will go down in Masters lore, a hard-hooking sand wedge from out of the trees to the right of the 10th fairway. It set up his winning two-putt and, of course, a green jacket.
Hunter Mahan’s one-stroke victory over Carl Pettersson made him the first two-time winner on the 2012 PGA Tour. It also elevated him to No. 4 in the world, the first time he has ever been the highest-ranked American.
Tiger Woods put on a command performance to win an official PGA Tour event for the first time in 30 months, beating Graeme McDowell by five shots.
After losing the No. 1 ranking to Rory McIlroy, Donald needed only two weeks to reclaim it by winning a four-man playoff on the first extra hole at Innisbrook.
Justin Rose survived a determined charge by Rory McIlroy and a final-hole birdie bid to tie by Bubba Watson to win his first World Golf Championship.
Rory McIlroy rose to the world No. 1 ranking, dethroning Luke Donald, with his Honda Classic victory.
Rory McIlroy went into the final against Hunter Mahan knowing that a victory would elevate him to No. 1 in the world, but instead it was Mahan who prevailed, 2 and 1.
Reigning FedEx Cup champion Bill Has sank a 45-foot putt on the second hole of a playoff to defeat Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley.
Playing in the next-to-last group on Sunday with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson beat Woods by 11 shots but more importantly wiped out a six-shot deficit by closing with a 64 to record his 40th career win.
A week after blowing a seemingly certain win with a triple bogey on the final hole, Kyle Stanley reversed roles, taking advantage of a collapse by Spencer Levin to win by two shots.
Starting the final round seven shots off the lead, Brandt Snedeker took advantage of a final-hole, triple-bogey collapse by Kyle Stanley to win.
Mark Wilson made a 10-foot birdie putt on the final hole to win by two shots.
Newly mustachioed Johnson Wagner shot a final-round 67 to take a two-shot victory at Waialae Country Club.
After finishing the previous season with a lingering neck injury thar robbed him of strength, Stricker started 2012 in strong fashion by winning the Tournament of Champions.
