The 41-year-old, who celebrated his birthday yesterday (Jul. 15th), is playing his 13th consecutive week of competition. He arrived off a one-shot victory in France at last week’s Challenge Tour event, his first-ever title on that tour, preceded the week prior by a solo 5th on that same circuit. This is the German’s 12th overall major, sixth made cut, with a best among one top 25 being a T12 at the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst in his third U.S. Open appearance (70-71-72-70). He’s a four-time winner on the European Tour in 460 events, most recently the 2014 BMW Masters, while his best finish in 27 PGA TOUR events, and lone top 10, is T10 at the 2013 Valero Texas Open on a sponsor exemption and in his tourney debut. Today, Siem camouflaged one square at hole 3 with four circles at 8, 14, 17 and 18, on 11 (of 14) fairways and 13 greens in regulation. (See link below for post-round comments).
