Haas

This was Haas’ first major victory and he has now won three straight events on the Champions Tour.

Great news for his owners, although it’s hard to imagine him being in contention at the Open on Sunday.

Haas is one of the best-connected touring professionals. The 60-year-old won nine times on the PGA TOUR from 1978-1993 and 16 times on the Champions Tour from 2005-2012. He competed in two Presidents Cup (1994, 2003), compiling an overall record of 5-3-1 that included a 2-0-0 slate in singles. Haas announced that Fred Couples will be his first vice captain, so today’s announcement reflects a role reversal for both. Couples led the U.S. to victory in each of the last three editions of the biennial event for which Haas was vice captain.

The PGA vet just continues his fine play with a 69 in Round 2. Now just three shots back of the leader.

Haas has four Top 10’s this year. Everyone on the Senior Tour must be really happy that Haas is still competing on the PGA tour.

Haas had an up n down round today. Four birdies and four bogies.

The guy just continues to amaze. You just have to rout for this guy and what he’s doing. If he continues to play this well, he will lock up a Ryder Cup spot.

Haas made a mjor move in the Ryder Cup race. He moved from 14th into the treasured 10th spot. He now stands to make the Ryder Cup team if he can hold on to at least 10th place.

Haas only had one bogey in route to a 66.

Haas is just 4 back after the first round. He hung tough with the young laddies. What a great story that would be if he can hang around the top of the leaderboard.
