6yTournament host Davis Love III’s son, Dru Love, will be in the field for his hometown event this week, The RSM Classic, being held in St. Simons Island, GA.

The 25-year-old will be playing in the RSM for the fourth time since 2016, he is 1-for-3 with a high finish of T54 in last seasons edition. The Alabama product is currently ranked No. 1515 in the world and has been getting reps on the Canadian Tour where he is 3-for-5 with a WD and a high finish of T32. The sponsors exemption will give the young pro an opportunity to weigh his talents versus the best in the world. His father Davis and uncle Mark Love recently redesigned the Plantation course which is used as a secondary course to combat daylight savings during the first two rounds. He will be one of a handful of players in the field with multiple reps on this new track and should posses a greater understanding of the new design than most of his competitors.

7yWorld No. 1927 and alternate Davis Love IV is making his major championship and pro debut at the 117th U.S. Open in Erin, Wisconsin.

Dru, as he’s referred to by family and friends, is making his second PGA TOUR start, first since the 2015-16 RSM Classic 82 weeks ago, where he missed the cut by six and was paired the first two rounds with dad and tournament host Davis Love III, who is caddying for his son this week. He was a University of Alabama junior then, and 547th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, but joins the paid ranks shortly after completing his college career and a 2016-17 season marred by injuries. The 23-year-old is one of five alternates in the field this week --unclaimed OWGR spots -- and was first alternate out of the Georgia sectional, where he survived a 2-for-1 playoff to wear that moniker.

7ySponsor invite and World No. 1957 Dru Love readies for his Barbasol Championship debut.

The 23-year-old is making his fourth career start on TOUR, third this season and third among the paid ranks. After sectional qualifying for the U.S. Open at Erin Hills, he kicked off his pro and major debut with a missed cut by two after rounds of 71-75. The University of Alabama product missed the cut at the Greenbrier two weeks ago (74-69) and made his TOUR debut at the 2015-16 RSM Classic, missing the cut after being grouped the first two rounds with dad Davis Love III.

7yThe RSM Classic announced today that Dru Love has been granted entry into the field of 156 via a sponsor exemption.

Dru is legally known as Davis Love IV. He’s the only son of tournament host DL3. Dru is in his junior season at the University of Alabama. The 21-year-old won the Georgia Amateur in July. He’s 547th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and will be making his debut in PGA TOUR-sanctioned competition.

7yNon-member and World No. 1958 Dru Love makes his RBC Heritage debut on a sponsor exemption. UPDATE: Love missed the cut by one shot on 1-over 77-66=143. The 66 in R2 was a career low in 21 rounds.

This is the 24-year-old’s fourth start this season, all on sponsor invites. He has one cash so far, a T30 at the opposite-field Sanderson Farms 24 weeks ago, and arrives of a missed cut (by two) at opposite-field Corales Championship three weeks ago (73-72). Overall, Love has missed seven cuts in nine starts (eight pro). He was a sectional qualifier for the 2017 U.S. Open -- where he made his professional debut -- and missed the cut by three.

7yMaking his tournament debut, sponsor invite and World No. 1929 Dru Love crafted a 5-under-par 35-32=67 in the second round of the Sanderson Farms Championship to reach 6-under 138, up 44 spots on the live leaderboard to T6, one shy of 36-hole clubhouse leader Nicholas Lindheim.

The 23-year-old is making his seventh career TOUR start with one prior cash, a T75/MDF at the 2017 Wyndham. He opened with an up-and-down 71 (six birdies, five bogeys) and was much steadier on Day 2, circling seven against two. Beginning off No. 10 tee, the Alabama product landed eight (of 14) fairways and 15 greens in regulation, gaining 1.361 strokes off-the-tee and 2.433 tee-to-green. He circled holes 11, 13, 15, 17 and a hat-trick at 1-3, stalling out with late bogeys at 7 and 8. Love recorded 1.533 putts per GIR and 2.291 SG: Putting, with 28 total putts. This ties his career low on TOUR in 15 rounds, shot two times prior.
