Red Sox acquired OF Freddy Valdez from the Mets.
The 19-year-old outfielder is one of the three players-to-be-named that the Red Sox will receive from the three-team deal that sent Andrew Benintendi to the Royals. As a 17-year-old in Rookie ball in 2019, Valdez slashed .274/.367/.448 with six homers, 39 RBI and six swipes in 60 games. Valdez was considered by most to be a top-20 prospect in the Mets system.
