By the Numbers Week 7

So here it is, week 7. It’s one of the most interesting for me; not because Manchester City finally proved last week that they were vulnerable; nor because Spurs finally put a couple of results together but because I’ve decided that the Poisson predictor will be back soon. As I’ve explained before, whilst it’s a great tool it takes a few weeks before it can be used effectively – in fact it is most effective in the last week of the season but you asked for it, so you’re getting it. Watch this space.

In fact, if I can figure out a way of automating the process for a range of my diagrams I hope to bring them all back. I’ve explained before just how time consuming many of them can be but I’ve had nothing but positive praise so I’ll do my best for you all. Similarly I’m going to have my first go at Mondogoal this week. I have a plan, you could even call it a strategy, so watch this space….

Last week was another mixed affair – With no less than 6 City players in my Perfect XI I still managed to move to 8th overall in the Rotoworld league. I managed my highest score in the Premier League game with 68 points which moved me up 72 places to 70th in the Rotoworld league – I even won my head-to-head in the AMCR league. The only downside is that I missed the deadline for the Beat the Bloggers league which is a shame but, to be fair, I wasn’t actually doing very well there anyway!

Here’s this week’s predictions table

None of you will be surprised by the strength of the Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea games – although take the last one with a pinch of salt, away teams are never as convincing especially when they travel all the way to the toon. I expect them to win by I’m not convinced by a clean sheet. Similarly City and Arsenal look good on paper but Spurs are on the back of 3 clean sheets and Leicester certainly know where the back of the net is! Those readers who still play the pools (surely there must be at least one) will be interested that there’s at least a 40% chance of a draw between Stoke and Bournemouth. Those of you who like a bet should also keep an eye on this one….

BTB Goalkeeper

Last week’s tip of Boruc for Bournemouth turned out to be every bit as great as I hoped although unfortunately I was too late to put it in action. A 1500 salary for 14 points is about as good as you’re ever likely to get – don’t worry, you can thank me later.

Here’s this week’s graph:

This might actually be the best possible week to choose a goalkeeper because the three that have over a 32% chance; De Gea, Begovic and Mignolet are all very reasonably priced. De Gea looks the pick of the bunch to me but I can’t really argue if you decided on any of them – Begovic for example is a steal at 5150 although my previous comments about away teams should be taken into account.
