Some weeks go better than others in Fantasy Football but week 31 was probably my worst for the whole season. Whilst I still have a number of double gamers (Caulker, Hutton, Sinclair, N’Zogbia and Austin), Hutton and Sinclair have been ruled out as injured so it won’t be enough to save me from anything less than a disaster. The only hope I have is that after dropping Giroud (23 points) for Austin and keeping hold of Kane (0 points) and Costa (0 points) that Austin at least obliges with another goal to save my blushes a little.
Goalkeepers
To compound my failure, I managed to go out on a limb and suggest MyHill who achieved a world-class -8, a feat only bettered by McGregor for Hull with -9. I guess my predictions had just been too good for too long! After last week’s performance you might be slightly surprised to find that I’m suggesting a goalkeeper who has managed just 14 points all season and returned a negative score in half the games he’s played! Nope, not Howard (I’m not that crazy) – Vorm. With Lloris out he looks a great choice between the sticks against an Aston Villa side who are quite frankly struggling to find 11 viable players. In a similar vein, Davis looks set for a good spell between the sticks for Southampton with a home game against Hull. He’s dirt cheap so he could be good for your bench at the least. Whilst some other goalkeepers had high enough probabilities to make the cut, they just can’t offer the value these guys can. Most notably is Mignolet who has dropped 3.45m after Liverpool’s mauling at the hands of Arsenal and at home to Newcastle looks positive but the other two just out do him.
Predictor
The predictions this week have all of the right names to my mind with the exception of West Brom who, after getting beaten by a QPR team who’ve been truly awful on the road, are unbackable to me. I suggest a focus on Liverpool, United (yes really), Arsenal and Spurs (lower scoring but the predictor doesn’t take into account the injury crisis). That means Kane, Sturridge, Lallana, Henderson, Rooney, Giroud (can I spend the money to bring him back?) and Sanchez. You might also be tempted by ramsey – he isn’t scoring goals but he’s certainly involved in the ones Arsenal are scoring!
Poisson
The Poisson is approaching the high of its powers now that it nearly has the whole season under its belt and this weekend looks good for a number of teams. Chelsea look set to give QPR a mauling and the Manchester Derby has goals written all over it.Aston Villa look unlikely to score at Tottenham and that’s without the injuries taken into account and Crystal Palace defenders may well give you a good return (you’ve all got Kelly already I guess?).
