Hits
Dion Phaneuf has been a physical force since joining the Ottawa Senators. He’s dished out at least one hit in all six of his contests with the team and has 17 total over that span. Including his time with Toronto, Phaneuf is tied for 37th in the league in hits with 137. Ryan Reaves has been credited with at least three hits in seven straight games. He now has 163 hits in 49 games this season. Tom Wilson has had nine straight multi-hit games. He’s 12th in the NHL with 180 hits in 58 games. As impressive as Wilson’s streak is though, Tanner Glass can top it. Glass has been credited with 17 consecutive multi-hit games. He had 145 hits this season, which is incredible when you consider that he’s played in just 35 contests.
Blocks
Shea Weber has blocked at least one shot in each of his last nine games and he’s gotten in front of 10 shots in his last two contests alone. He has 112 blocks in 60 contests this season, putting him on a pace comparable to 2014-15 when he finished with 147 blocks in 78 games. Cody Ceci has been credited with 10 blocked shots in his last three contests. That’s pushed him up to 99 blocks this season after he finished the 2014-15 campaign with 113 in 81 games. Brandon Davidson gotten at least one block in each of his last five contests. The 24-year-old rookie is up to 79 blocks in 43 contests this season. Rasmus Ristolainen was credited with seven blocked shots against Pittsburgh on Sunday, making it his fourth consecutive multi-block game. He has 105 blocks in 60 contests this season.
Draws
In addition to extending his point streak to five games on Sunday, Jordan Staal also won 12-of-16 faceoffs. He’s won the majority of his draws in four consecutive games and now has a 58.4% success rate this season. Matt Cullen has won 25-of-36 draws of his last two contests. He has a 56.2 faceoff winning percentage after finishing the 2014-15 campaign at 54.0%. Martin Hanzal has won the majority of his faceoffs in seven straight games. He was particularly good against Washington on Monday as he won 16-of-25 draws. He now has a 56.4 winning percentage in 2015-16 compared to his career average of 51.1%. Patrice Bergeron has won at least 53.3% of his faceoffs in each of his last five contests. He has a 57.2% success rate this season, although that’s down from 60.2% in 2014-15.
