Oliver Kylington (26%) and Jesse Puljujarvi (34%) should be scooped up if they are available.

Cole Caufield, who has scored in each of his past two games, is rostered in 25% of Yahoo leagues. Montreal plays just two times this week, but he could be in store for a strong finish after struggling mightily for the first half of the season.

Connor Brown jumped from 7% when he appeared on Waiver Wired a week ago to 19%. Matthew Boldy is still available in 77% of Yahoo leagues, while Yegor Sharangovich, who has one goal and three assists in his past two games, can be had in 94% of pools.

Now, let’s get into this week’s suggestions:

Nate Schmidt (Winnipeg) - D - Rostered in 22% of Yahoo leagues

Schmidt has produced two goals and two assists in his past seven outings along with 16 shots and two power-play points (one goal, one assist). However, he was moved off the top power-play unit recently. Schmidt has provided the most points among Winnipeg blueliner this season with a total of 22 over 44 contests. He also has 76 shots and 61 blocks on the year. The Jets have a busy upcoming schedule with four games scheduled for this week.

Mikael Backlund (Calgary) - C, RW - Rostered in 19% of Yahoo leagues

Backlund has heated up while recording 10 points (three goals, seven assists) over his latest 11-game stretch. The bulk of that production has come in his past three outings with one goal and five helpers along with 11 shots on target. Backlund has been production on the second line of the Flames between Andrew Mangiapane and Blake Coleman.

Jeff Skinner (Buffalo) - LW - Rostered in 15% of Yahoo leagues

Skinner has been on a steady run since the start of the New Year, while generating seven goals and 12 points in 14 games. He has amassed 50 shots on goal during that span and he has been held off the scoresheet on just six occasions. Following two poor years with the Sabres, Skinner finally appears to be getting back on track. He has 16 goals, 29 points and 137 shots across 44 contests. Skinner has fit in nicely on the top line with Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch.

Dylan Strome (Chicago) - C, RW - Rostered in 13% of Yahoo leagues

Strome has been lighting it up on the scoresheet following a rocky start to the season. He has racked up 18 points, including nine (four goals, five assists) on the power play over his past 21 appearances. Strome has been held off the scoresheet just four times in his past 13 matches. He has meshed well alongside Patrick Kane at even strength as well as on the man advantage.

Trevor Moore (Los Angeles) - LW, RW - Rostered in 11% of Yahoo leagues

Moore has two straight multi-point efforts to give him two goals and five assists in his past six outings. He has compiled 23 points (six goals, 17 assists) in 25 games since Dec. 5, which includes 18 points over 15 contests since the calendar flipped in 2022. Moore has been a great source of secondary offense, while forming a dependable line with Phillip Danault and Viktor Arvidsson.

Noah Hanifin (Calgary) - D - Rostered in 9% of Yahoo leagues

Hanifin has notched two goals and 10 points in his past 10 matches. That includes one goal and four helpers during a three-game point streak. Hanifin is up to 23 points in 44 contests this season, which puts him on pace for the best offensive performance of his NHL career. He has also been credited with 90 shots on goal and 43 blocked shots in 2021-22.

Kailer Yamamoto (Edmonton) - RW - Rostered in 6% of Yahoo leagues

Yamamoto has good short-term upside because of Edmonton’s five-game schedule for this week despite his recent struggles offensively. At the very least, he is worth having on your watch list. Yamamoto skated alongside Leon Draisaitl and Evander Kane on Friday.

Scott Laughton (Philadelphia) - C, LW - Rostered in 5% of Yahoo leagues

Laughton has accounted for 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 15 games since the start of the New Year. He stretched his point spree to five matches on Saturday with a two-point performance against Detroit. Laughton also concluded the contest with six shots on target. He has three goals and three helpers during his point streak. The Flyers only have two games slated for this week, but Laughton deserves more recognition from fantasy managers.

Nick Schmaltz (Arizona) - C, RW - Rostered in 4% of Yahoo leagues

Schmaltz has been on an offensive tear since mid-January, while piling up seven goals and 12 points in 12 games. He has found the back of the net three times in the past two games. Unfortunately, the Coyotes only have two matches scheduled for this week. Schmaltz remains a deserving roster addition, though, as he has been a productive player on the top line alongside Clayton Keller, who leads Arizona in goals and points this year.

Frederick Gaudreau (Minnesota) - C - Rostered in 1% of Yahoo leagues

Gaudreau is enjoying his best stretch of the season on the scoresheet with three goals and three assists in six games. He has fit in nicely between Kevin Fiala and Matthew Boldy on a combination that has supplied the Wild with valuable secondary scoring. If Boldy isn’t available then Gaudreau is worth streaming for at least this week because Minnesota is poised to play four times.

Honorable Mention:

Craig Anderson (Buffalo) - G - Rostered in 16% of Yahoo leagues

Anderson makes for an intriguing pickup if options in the crease are limited. He is set to play on Sunday against Montreal and could get the bulk of the starts this week. Anderson got off to a strong start this season before sitting out 32 games due to an upper-body injury.
