From the final group, World No. 158 and R1 leader Adam Svensson finished double bogey, par, for a 1-under 34-37=71 in R4 of the opposite-field Barbasol, dipping one spot to a career-best 6th on 19-under 269, six back of champion Trey Mullinax (66).
The 28-year-old kicked off with a day-low, week-tying-low 10-under 62 to lead by two, but ended 67-69-71, falling to 0-for-2 as an 18-hole leader/co-leader. It is his seventh top 25 of the season in 27 events, fourth straight, and third top 10, eclipsing a prior-best T7 at the Sony back in January, where he was T3 after 54 holes. The Canadian, who is not in the published field at this coming week’s opposite-field Barracuda, began R4 T5, four adrift, and ticked four birdies on 11 greens in regulation, but gave some back with bogey-4 at 2 and a costly double bogey-6 at 17, which dropped him out of the top 5. For the week, he totaled one eagle and 25 birdies against six bogeys and two doubles, and ranked 7th SG: Tee-to-Green (8.349), posting a forgettable -1.716 TTG in R4, and 28th SG: Putting (2.432).
