Out of the seventh-to-last threesome, World No. 151 Patton Kizzire tacked on a 3-under-par 33-35=68 in R4 of the WM Phoenix Open to post 12-under 272, up three places to a season-best T10.
The 35-year-old, who was T69 after an opening even-par 71, fights back with a bogey-free 65, 68-68 for his first top 10 in the event in seven tries and his first top 10 of the season in 10 starts. It’s his also his first top 10 since T3 at last season’s Charles Schwab 19 starts ago, which he preceded with another T3 two weeks prior at the Byron Nelson. For the week, the Auburn alum totaled one eagle and 18 birdies versus eight bogeys, and ranked T3 in Greens in Regulation at 81.94 percent (59/72), and Top 25 in all strokes gained metrics with the exception of 42nd in SG: Putting (-0.350), primarily due to a -1.093 SGP today. He is in the published field at this coming week’s Genesis Invitational in Pacific Palisades, where he’ll make his first appearance since a 70th-place finish in 2017 (70-71-73-76).
