Playing out of the penultimate threesome, 18-hole leader and World No. 141 Robert Streb backed up with a 2-under-par 34-36=70 in the final round of THE CJ CUP @ SUMMIT, falling six places to T9 on 20-under 268, five shy of champion Rory McIlroy (66).
The 34-year-old, making his second appearance, first since T40 at the inaugural in Korea (2018), falls to 0-for-2 as an 18-hole leader/co-leader. He does hang on for his first top of the season in three events, and first since his second TOUR win at last season’s RSM Classic 26 starts ago. After opening with a career-low, tournament-record 61 to lead by one, he followed with 72-65-70. For the week, the Oklahoma native totaled one eagle and 26 birdies versus eight bogeys, four against two in R4, and ranked 20th in SG: Off-the-Tee (1.508), 47th in SG: Approach (-0.907), 9th in SG: Around (2.320), and 19th in SG: Putting (2.812). He is in the published field at this coming week’s ZOZO in Japan.
