Playing out of the fourth-to-last twosome, World No. 141 Xinjun Zhang bobbed and weaved to a 4-under-par 34-34=68 in the third round of the Corales Championship for a 54-hole total of 13-under 203, up one place to solo 4th, four back of leader Adam Long (64).
The China native is looking for his first TOUR win in 58 events. His best among four top 10s is T4 at the 2020 Houston Open, and his only other top-5 finish was T5 here in 2018 during his rookie campaign. After kicking off with 66-69, the 33-year-old began T5, three adrift of leader Hudson Swafford, and hit 11 (of 14) fairways and 11 greens in regulation. He carded seven birdies at holes 4, 6 (fringe-shot), 7, 9 and 11-13, taking some gloss off with three bogey-5s at 5, 8 and 18. Zhang, who will play out of the penultimate twosome in R4, registered 1.636 putts per GIR with 24 total putts.
