Jets general managers Darren Mougey told reporters that the team hopes to keep Allen Lazard on the roster via a restructured contract.
Mougey described the situation as “fluid.” Lazard caught 37-of-60 targets for 530 yards and six touchdowns last season. He is best suited to a rotational role at this point. The Jets would take on a $6.55 million salary cap hit this season if they were to cut him but also stand to save $6.6 million.
  • NYJ Quarterback #2
Jets general manager Darren Mougey said that Justin Fields is the team’s starter and that Tyrod Taylor will be “right on his heels.”
Credit to Mougey for keeping things fun. Taylor is highly unlikely to challenge Fields for the starting role but it is nice to know that the Jets plan to see what Fields can do. The latter player received a two-year, $40 million contract that indicated he would be given the starting role, but it also falls short of being an outright, serious commitment. Mougey reportedly said that the hope is for Fields to pull a career turnaround similar to what we saw from Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold. Things can always change, but drafting a rookie quarterback does not appear imminent for the Jets.
  • BAL Kicker #9
Ravens president Sashi Brown said “that the team won’t make a determination on kicker Justin Tucker’s future with the team until the NFL has finished its investigation.”
The Ravens are holding firm with the plans they outlined roughly one month ago. Tucker is being investigated for sexual misconduct allegations made by 16 women. The team has reportedly received “periodic updates” from the league, but the investigation is evidently still ongoing. Per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Eric DeCosta acknowledged that the team “is looking at kickers in the draft.”
  • ATL Quarterback #18
Outkick’s Armando Salguero reports that Kirk Cousins hopes to be traded after the 2025 NFL Draft’s conclusion.
Cousins’ no-trade clause gives him the ability to at least partially determine his own future, and there appears to be wiggle room in his request. Although he would prefer to wait until the draft’s conclusion, he has reportedly made clear that a mid-draft trade, after Day 2 concludes, could be agreeable. Salguero lists the Steelers, Browns and even the Vikings, in a backup role, as possible landing spots.
  • TEN Quarterback #8
Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker said that the team has not engaged in trade talks about Will Levis and that Levis “has a chance to compete for a starting job.”
The Titans are standing by their man, for now. Brinker adds that the Titans “have not contacted anybody, and nobody has contacted us, about Will Levis.” If the Titans were to be contacted about Levis’ availability, perhaps his stance would change. Trading Levis away pre-draft would effectively force the Titans to draft his replacement with the No. 1 overall pick while signaling their intent to do so. Perhaps, retaining Levis as the presumed starter, pre-draft, will encourage another team picking in the top 10 to offer an overwhelmingly valuable trade package that would allow the Titans to slide back a tad, while remaining in range to draft one of Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart.
  • DAL Quarterback #4
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Dak Prescott is “doing great” in his recovery from hamstring surgery.
Jones added that the team is “very thrilled” about Prescott’s rehab but noted that the franchise quarterback will have “some limitations” throughout their offseason programs. Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury in Week 9 and underwent surgery to correct the issue. He threw for 1,978-11-8 in the nine games he did appear in last season while completing just 64.7 percent of his passes — his lowest mark since 2017. Prescott and the Cowboys offense struggled mightily last season due in part to a running game that was non-existent for a large portion of the year. First-time head coach Brian Schottenheimer will hope that a new-look backfield can take some pressure off the passing game this upcoming season, but there’s still work to be done behind free-agent signees Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. As far as Prescott being ready for the start of the season is concerned, it sounds as if he’s well on his way.
  • TEN Quarterback #8
Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker said teams are still “checking in” on a potential trade for the No. 1 pick in the draft.
Not long after head coach Brian Callahan said the Titans were honing in on four players, Brinker reiterated that the team is “going to go through the whole thing” while leaving things open to the possibility of a trade. If the Titans are open to taking a quarterback to replace Will Levis, it’s hard to imagine them not taking a shot on Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders with the No. 1 pick next month. That said, if the Titans prefer to go in a different direction than quarterback, they could fetch a decent haul for another team to move up to the top spot and take their quarterback of choice. With nearly a month to go until the draft, the Titans still have plenty of time to decide on what to do with their pick, but Brinker’s comments serve as a good reminder that their decision is far from settled.
  • SF Wide Receiver #11
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports “any trade talks for Brandon Aiyuk would be off” if he remains on the 49ers roster by Tuesday, April 1.
Aiyuk is due a $22.85 million bonus from the Niners if he is still on their roster by April 1st. While he’s been the subject of trade rumors this offseason, the Niners would presumably keep Aiyuk on the roster for the 2025 season if they have to pay out his bonus for the season. Schefter reports that “no deal currently is expected” by April 1st, so we’ll see if anything develops over the next two days. The star receiver is rehabbing a torn ACL and MCL that he suffered in Week 7 last season and seems unlikely to be ready for the start of next season, which would only further complicate a trade.
  • HOU Linebacker #45
Texans signed LB E.J. Speed, formerly of the Colts, to a one-year, $5 million contract.
The deal comes with a $1.75 million signing bonus, $1.5 million guaranteed, $1.5 million in playtime incentives, and a $500,000 Pro Bowl escalator. Speed set a career high in tackles in 2024 with 142, including seven tackles for loss and five pass break ups. He’ll bolster an aggressive Texans linebacking corps after spending the first six years of his NFL career with the Colts.
  • BUF Cornerback #47
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Bills signed CB Christian Benford to a four-year, $76 million contract extension.
A sixth-round pick from Villanova in the 2022 NFL Draft, Benford finished last season with an 82.6 overall PPF grade (fifth among CBs). The 24-year-old cornerback played like a top-five player at the position and now he’ll be paid like one on a deal that will keep him in Buffalo through the 2029 season. Benford’s deal comes after extensions for EDGE Greg Rousseau, LB Terrel Bernard and WR Khalil Shakir as the Bills continue to lock up their core players this offseason.
