49ers selected Oregon RB Jordan James with the No. 147 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
James (5’10/205) backed up Bucky Irving as a freshman and started to force a committee as a sophomore with 107 carries to Irving’s 186. Though Bucky easily operated as the Ducks’ top option, James’ talent was undeniable. He averaged 7.1 YPC and equaled Irving with 11 rushing scores. With the latter gone in 2024, James took over the backfield and didn’t disappoint, racking up 1,267 yards and 15 touchdowns on 233 attempts. He caught 26 passes for 209 yards, albeit at just under one yard per route run. James lost his already limited long-run potential while operating as the lead back. He broke just a dozen carries of 15+ yards, the same amount he went for in the previous season. Despite his lack of explosive runs, James was elite at churning out shorter chunk gains. His 57 percent success rate led all running backs in 2024 and he went for 10 or more yards on 17 percent of his carries. As expected, James was underwhelming at the combine, running a 4.55 forty. After his pro day, James registered a 3.87 RAS. James is a grinder with a limited ceiling, but he heads to a Kyle Shanahan system that is great at elevating running backs. James will compete with Isaac Guerendo for RB2 duties in San Francisco over the summer.

Buccaneers EDGE David Walker suffered a torn ACL and is out for the season.
Buccaneers beat writer Rick Stroud was the first to report the injury. Walker, who the Buccaneers drafted with the No. 121 overall pick in this year’s draft, will now redshirt his rookie season and hope to be back in action for 2026. The former Central Arkansas pass-rusher totaled 10.5 sacks in his final season of college ball and displayed high-end athleticism at the NFL Scouting Combine. The Buccaneers will likely take a look at another pass rusher or two to add to the roster with Walker now out for the season.
Williams expanding route tree under new Lions OC
Jameson Williams has impressed new Detroit Lions offensive coordinator John Morton during training camp, and Kyle Dvorchak weighs in on the fantasy outlook for the fourth-year wide receiver in 2025.
  • MIA Tight End #12
Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said Darren Waller is in ‘tremendous shape.”
Waller opened the season on the PUP list, but it sounds like the decision to sideline him early in camp is due more to conditioning than injury. Dolphins beat writer Marcel Louis-Jacques noted that while Waller is in good shape, the team is not trying to “trick us into thinking he’s in football shape.” Waller has reportedly been “very active” working with tight ends coach Jon Embree, so it’s possible his time on the PUP list could be short-lived.
  • IND Defensive Tackle #69
Colts signed DT Josh Tupou, formerly of the Ravens.
Tupou spent four seasons with the Bengals under defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, who is now the Colts’ defensive coordinator. The seven-year vet has played primarily as a backup in his career, totaling 89 tackles in 68 career games while also totaling three sacks and seven TFLs.
  • DAL Guard #65
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Cowboys OG Robert Jones will miss 2-3 months after suffering a broken bone in his neck.
It’s a scary injury for Jones, who signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys earlier this offseason and was reportedly working with the first-team offense before going down. Jones started all 17 games he appeared in for the Dolphins last season, earning a PFF blocking grade of 56.1 while playing on over 1,000 snaps. Jones will likely open the season on injured reserve with a chance to return around the midway point of the season.
  • NE Wide Receiver #80
ESPN’s Mike Reiss reports that Kyle Williams, Kendrick Bourne and UDFA rookie Efton Chism III currently hold the Patriots’ Nos. 4-6 wide receiver spots.
Reiss writes, “there was a moment late last week in practice when the Patriots split into two distinct groups.” The starters, Stefon Diggs, Kayshon Boutte and DeMario Douglas, huddled together on one side while the top three reserves, Williams, Bourne and Chism, stood at the other. Drake Maye notably said Williams is “looking good” after Williams "[snared] a laser of a throw on a comeback route against” CB Christian Gonzalez. Both rookies are currently in good spots, though Williams surely aims for a starting role and Chism has not yet locked up a roster spot. Mack Hollins remains on the active/PUP list with an undisclosed injury. His return could shake things up a bit, though Bourne’s best days are behind him. Stay tuned.
  • NE Wide Receiver #13
Patriots placed WR Mack Hollins on the active/physically unable to perform list.
Hollins landed on the active/physically unable to perform list due to an undisclosed issue. ESPN’s Mike Reiss expects Hollins to land “somewhere” in his position group’s top six but opted not to speculate beyond that. Kayshon Boutte has, perhaps, the skill set that most directly overlaps with Hollins, which could make Boutte the primary hurdle for Hollins to leap, in order to secure a starting role.
  • SF Wide Receiver
The Athletic’s Matt Barrows reports, 49ers WR Jordan Watkins “seems very much in the mix to be the No. 3 or No. 4 wideout when the season begins.”
Barrows notes, “observers often can tell where a 49ers receiver stands in the pecking order by where he lines up in individual drills.” Prior to Ricky Pearsall’s return from a hamstring strain on Sunday, Watkins had been running as the team’s WR3 behind Jauan Jennings and Demarcus Robinson. Although Pearsall is back, Jennings is now sidelined after suffering his second calf injury of the summer, giving Watkins yet another opportunity to run as the team’s third wide receiver. Fantasy managers should also note that although Robinson is practicing, he faces a possible DUI-related suspension early in the year. Brandon Aiyuk’s (knee) return date has yet to be determined. Barrows also notes that head coach Kyle Shanahan “is famously fussy when it comes to rookie pass catchers,” so Watkins is unlikely to be given the role by default. Still, he has the opportunity to compete for it. His progress is worth following.
  • DAL Running Back
Cowboys beat reporters have been impressed by RB Jaydon Blue through the first week of training camp practices.
A negative quote from a former Cowboys coach regarding Blue’s work ethic made headlines earlier this month, but Blue is reportedly silencing those concerns with his performance in training camp. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris said it would be “hard to ask for a much better first week of camp from Jaydon Blue,” and later listed Blue as a runner-up when asked by a reader for his training camp standouts thus far. ESPN’s Todd Archer also noted Blue’s “burst” as well. Blue possesses explosive traits that Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders lack. He is a capable receiver as well. Evidently, he remains in the hunt fantasy-relevant role in year one.
  • GB Wide Receiver #18
Packers WR Savion Williams (concussion) was limited on Sunday.
Williams missed practice on Friday, so his limited availability is a step in the right direction. He participated in early drill work and sat out for the Packers’ 11-on-11 periods. He was having a strong camp before suffering a concussion. The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman notes that OG Aaron Banks (back) returned to practice in a limited capacity as well.
  • NYG Quarterback
North Jersey’s Art Stapleton reports, Jaxson Dart was a “different quarterback” on Sunday, writing, “you could see the game speeding up on his end.”
Dart reportedly had “ups and downs” in the Giants’ first three practices, but on Sunday, Dart showed that he is “accelerating the learning curve in his development.” Dart’s moxie has been widely complimented by his teammates but talking without walking means little. Russell Wilson remains the team’s Week 1 starter but Dart is beginning to impress with his performance, which is a great sign for his late-season starting viability.
