Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reports the Browns and free agent QB Carson Wentz “definitely have mutual interest” if they don’t sign Russell Wilson.
The Wilson caveat is doing some heavy lifting here as the Browns can have the former Steeler if they want him. Most of the quarterback dominoes have already fallen and Aaron Rodgers appears to be more sought after than Wilson. Still, Russ could wind up elsewhere, putting the Browns in a serious bind if they don’t figure out the position during the draft. If signed, Wentz would join recently-acquired Kenny Pickett as the Week 1 starting options. Wentz made one start for the Chiefs last year, throwing for 98 yards in a meaningless Week 18 contest. Wentz is purely a bridge quarterback and a weak one at best, but the Browns could be forced to give him a shot as they pick up the pieces following the failed Deshaun Watson trade.
