Caleb Williams completed 18-of-31 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown in Chicago’s 30-12, Week 15 loss to the Vikings.
A late touchdown while trailing 27-6 made the line a little more fantasy-viable. Williams spent most of the first half setting up screens, and when unleashed later in the game, caused Joe Buck to deadpan “the ball just doesn’t come out.” He had a couple nice balls, but the timing on anything the Bears passing game does beyond attacking the flats feels like it is happening in slow motion, and when Williams scrambles his ball placement gets scrambled with him. “As I watch him, I can tell he’s a defeated guy,” Troy Aikman said after Williams took a 10-second sack and essentially pratfalled in exhaustion on the Chicago bench in the fourth quarter. The Bears get to run it back against a depleted Lions defense in Week 16, but Williams hasn’t shown enough to be a sure QB2 recently.
