Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said J.K. Dobbins (knee) “will miss some time.”
That’s a lot more open-ended than Ian Rapoport’s previous report that Dobbins would simply miss Week 13. Harbaugh added that he is “working through something with his knee.” It would not be surprising if this ballooned into a multi-week absence for Dobbins, who is no stranger to long-term injuries.
What Dobbins' absence means for LAC's backfield

  • FA Quarterback #7

Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi said the team has received calls about the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Borgonzi told reporters at the NFL Combine that the Titans would listen to offers for the No. 1 overall pick, though it was too early in the pre-draft process to determine whether the team would make the move out of the top spot. Tennessee is expected to take a quarterback — either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders — with the first pick if they indeed keep it. They could also trade the pick for a load of valuable picks in 2025 and beyond as Borgonzi looks to revamp one of the worst rosters in the NFL.
  • MIA Tackle #72
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said LT Terron Armstead is undecided on whether to play in 2025.
Retirement, per McDaniel, is on the table for the 12-year NFL veteran who has struggled mightily with a range of injury issues over the past three seasons in Miami. The Dolphins will reportedly operate as if Armstead will retire this offseason. Pro Football Focus graded Armstead, 33, as the league’s ninth best pass-blocking offensive lineman in 2024. He’s signed with the Dolphins through the 2026 season.
  • Quarterback
Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi said he does not have concerns about Shedeur Sanders’ arm strength.
Asked about whether Sanders has the arm strength of a typical franchise quarterback, Borgonzi said Sanders has “plenty of arm strength.” What he might lack, Borgonzi said, Sanders makes up for with anticipation. He complimented Sanders’ “field vision and instincts” during his time as Colorado’s starter. Sanders won’t participate in the NFL Scouting Combine, raising questions about his physical prowess. The Titans hold the first pick in the 2025 draft and are widely expected to take a quarterback, either Sanders of Miami’s Cam Ward.
  • ATL Quarterback #18
Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot said the team would keep Kirk Cousins as a backup to Michael Penix.
This is the second time Fontenot has postured about having Cousins as a backup in 2025 after he was benched for Penix late in the 2024 season. With a guaranteed salary of $27.5 million for the coming season and a no-trade clause, Cousins would be a well compensated backup. Cousins a few weeks ago claimed he had been struggling through an injury. The team, per Fontenot, was unaware of any such injury for the 36-year-old Cousins, who tore his Achilles in 2023 and was almost completely immobile for the 2024 season’s first month. With the Browns reportedly interested in acquiring Cousins, it’s unlikely the Falcons keep him as a backup.
  • LAR Quarterback #9
The Athletic’s Dan Duggan believes the Giants acquiring Matthew Stafford this offseason is “firmly on the table.”
While Giants general manager Joe Schoen wouldn’t comment directly on the team’s interest in Stafford, 37, who was given permission to seek a trade this week, he offered a quote that could very well mean the team is ready to go all in for Stafford. “We’re going to look for the best player available that can help us win games in ‘25,” Schoen told reporters at the NFL Combine. Stafford reportedly wants more than $50 million per year headed into the 2025 season. Stafford in New York would be a big upgrade for Malik Nabers and the team’s pass catchers. Whether the aged Stafford could stay upright and healthy behind a shoddy Giants offensive line is another question entirely.
  • PIT Quarterback #2
Steelers general manager Omar Khan said he would like to re-sign one of Justin Fields or Russell Wilson this offseason.
Both quarterbacks are free agents this spring and could see interest from quarterback-needy teams who might view Fields or Wilson as locked-in starters headed into 2025. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini said last week that “everything is on the table” for the team’s QB situation, while ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that several teams are interested in signing Fields, who threw for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception over six starts in 2024, adding 233 yards and five scores on the ground. It would seem like a long shot for the Steelers to give Wilson another shot after his poor play over the final month of the 2024 season. Wilson ranked 27th out of 29 qualifying quarterbacks in drop back EPA from Week 12-18.
  • WAS Defensive Tackle #93
The Washington Post’s Nicki Jhabvala reports the Commanders have granted DT Jonathan Allen permission to seek a trade.
Allen, 30, who missed most of the 2024 regular season with a pectoral injury, is signed through the 2025 season and would count as a $22.5 million cap hit this coming season. Allen could land a short-term deal with a team in need of a better interior presence, though it remains to be seen how many teams might be interested in acquiring Allen. Allen had 36 tackles of a loss from 2021-2023, and was off to a hot start in 2024 before suffering his season-ending injury.
  • LAR Quarterback #11
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the Rams are “comfortable” with Jimmy Garoppolo as the team’s starter.
It’s exactly the kind of thing you would expect from a team playing hardball with their starting quarterback. The Rams last week granted Stafford permission to speak with other teams and try to work out a trade this offseason. Stafford, 37, who struggled at times over the past two seasons in LA, has two years remaining on his deal with the Rams. He has been linked to the Giants in trade talks over the past couple weeks as the Rams hedge on bringing back Stafford for a sixth season in LA. While Garoppolo would be in the mix to start for the Rams if Stafford leaves, he would certainly see competition in training camp. Garoppolo had 333 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in his lone start of 2024, a Week 18 loss to Seattle.
  • NFL Commissioner
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports an unidentified team proposed a motion to ban the “tush-push.”
It’s the second year in a row that a team has filed a motion to ban the tush push, this time questioning whether or not it constitutes “a viable football play.” No action has yet to be taken to preclude teams from the play. While Schefter did not cite a team as responsible for the proposal, another source indicated it was the Packers heading the charge on a potential rules change.
  • Quarterback
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reports “multiple league insiders” are “convinced the Giants have their sights” on Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders.
Raanan adds, though, that “that would not necessarily keep the team from targeting a more experienced option” at quarterback. Sanders has been tied to the Giants for months, which is how things go when you start 2-12 and wander through a fruitless end of the regular season. It is certainly plausible that the Giants target using the No. 3 pick on Sanders. The tone of the article leads us to understand that this is more of an open idea. But multiple sources telling a New York beat writer that the Giants have their sights on Sanders is eye-catching if nothing else.
