Austin Ekeler ran 11 times for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders’ Week 9 win over the Giants, adding three receptions for 41 additional yards.
Ekeler got the spot start with Brian Robinson (hamstring) sidelined and made the most of his outing. The veteran running back punched in a one-yard touchdown in the second quarter and had two gains of 20-plus yards on the afternoon. He was out-gained on the ground by second-year running back Chris Rodriguez, who totaled 52 yards on 11 carries, but Ekeler led all Commanders players with 15 opportunities. He’ll be a low-end RB2 in Week 10 against the Steelers if Robinson can’t play, but shouldn’t be viewed as anything more than an RB3 if Robinson is able to go.
