  • CAR Quarterback #9

Panthers coach Dave Canales announced Bryce Young will start in Week 9 against the Saints.
Andy Dalton is practicing in full, but the Panthers are being cautious with his return. He suffered a sprained thumb in a car crash last week, forcing the Panthers the turn to the previously benched Young. The former No. 1 overall pick threw for 224 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. It was a rocky performance with a few more high points than usual but just as many mistakes. Canales said Young will make the start this week and the team will go from there, so it’s possible Dalton is back under center for Week 10. Young is not on the fantasy radar for his upcoming matchup with the Saints.
  • NO Wide Receiver #11

Saints WR Cedrick Wilson (hip) did not practice Wednesday.
With Rashid Shaheed done for the year and Bub Means nursing an ankle injury, the Saints are drastically thin at wide receiver. Mason Tipton will continue to serve as the team’s No. 2 wide receiver for Week 9 against the Panthers. With Derek Carr expected to return, Tipton should sneak into the WR5 ranks this week.
  • Broncos designated S Delarrin Turner-Yell (knee) to return from the reserve/physically unable to perform list.
This is welcome news for a Broncos secondary who could be without S P.J. Locke (thumb), who was unable to practice. Turner-Yell returns from a brutal December 31st, 2023 ACL tear. Whether he can play in Week 9 remains to be seen but the unit could be receiving reinforcements soon.
  • NO Defensive Back #23
Saints CB Marshon Lattimore (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Lattimore dealt with hamstring issues early in the year. Just when it seemed like he was past the injury, his hamstring flared up in Week 7 versus the Broncos. He left the game and did not return. Lattimore attempted to play through the injury in Week 8 but re-aggravated the issue once again. Given the persistence of his injury, Lattimore may need to sit for a week or two before taking the field again.
  • NO Running Back #25
Kendre Miller (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Miller was maligned for his inability to stay healthy by Saints head coach Dennis Allen in the offseason. He opened the year on injured reserve because of a hamstring issue and only lasted two games before suffering another hamstring injury. His timeline to return is unknown, but we can assume Allen won’t be giving him a meaningful workload any time soon.
  • NYJ Wide Receiver #10
Allen Lazard (chest) will not play in Week 9 against the Texans.
Lazard’s absence could give the Jets one last shot at showcasing Mike Williams for a trade. Williams has become an afterthought in the New York offense with Garrett Wilson and Aaron Rodgers’ buddies rounding out the starting lineup at wide receiver. Williams has 11 catches for 160 scoreless yards this year.
  • HOU Running Back #31
Texans ruled out Dameon Pierce (groin) for Week 9 against the Jets.
Pierce has totaled more than three touches just once this season so his absence is largely inconsequential for Joe Mixon. The Texans also ruled out OL Jarrett Patterson, LB Azeez Al-Shaair and S Jimmie Ward against the Jets.
  • NYJ Safety #22
Jets S Tony Adams (hamstring) will not play in Week 9 against the Texans.
Backup safety Ashtyn Davis is out with a concussion. The Jets are severely banged up on defense heading into a do-or-die matchup with the Texans. A loss will send their already dwindling playoff hopes down the drain. Adams has five pass breakups, two TFLs, and one sack this year.
  • NYJ Linebacker #57
Jets LB C.J. Mosley (neck) will not play in Week 9 against the Texans.
Defensive tackle Leki Fotu was also ruled out. Mosley suffered the neck injury in Week 8. He underwent an MRI after the game and has since consulted with a spine specialist. All of this points to an extended absence for the veteran linebacker.
  • LV Center #68
Andre James (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
The Raiders’ offensive line is one of the team’s core strengths so losing the starting center could be a big deal. The team has also been without G Dylan Parham (foot), who returned to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. The offensive line could be compromised if both players are absent on Sunday.
  • FA Linebacker #56
Seahawks hosted free agent EDGE Randy Gregory for a visit.
Gregory signed a one-year deal with the Bucs this offseason and then ghosted them at training camp. He was released after failing to show up. Later reporting then stated he was expected to retire. The Seahawks need some warm bodies to plug holes along their defensive line, but Gregory has little to offer outside of depth at this point in his career. He totaled 3.5 sacks in 2023 while playing for the Broncos and 49ers.
