Drake Maye (concussion) was not seen at the start of Wednesday’s practice.
No surprise here as Maye left Week 8’s game against the Jets with a concussion and did not return. This will go down as a DNP when New England’s injury report drops. Maye is in the early stages of the league’s concussion protocol. Barring a quick return to practice, Jacoby Brissett will draw the start in Week 9 against the Titans. Brissett peaked at 168 passing yards in his five starts to open the year. No Patriots receiver can be trusted for fantasy purposes with Maye out of the lineup.
  • MIA Safety #8

Dolphins S Jevon Holland (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
Mike McDaniel has done his best to assuage concerns over Holland’s most recent knee injury Holland’s knee injury history should not be thrown out. The talented safety sprained both MCLs in Week 12 last year and was slowed by the injuries even after returning in Week 17. The Dolphins need all hands on deck for their bout with the Bills in Week 9.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
Tyreek Hill was rested for Wednesday’s practice ahead of the Dolphins’ Week 9 game against the Bills.
Hill suffered a foot injury in practice last week and was listed as questionable after missing Friday’s practice. He played through the issue without any problems and caught six passes for 72 yards. The Dolphins didn’t even bother listing the foot issue on his Week 9 injury report and just called his DNP on Wednesday a rest day. He is good to go for his upcoming matchup with the Bills. With Tua Tagovailoa back on the sticks, Hill is back in our WR1 good graces.
  • ATL Center #67
Falcons designated C Drew Dalman (ankle) to return from injured reserve.
Dalman landed on injured reserve after injuring his ankle against the Chiefs in Week 3. Dalman can be a liability in pass protection but maintains a high level of play as a run blocker, earning an 84.5 PFF run-blocking grade in 3-of-4 NFL seasons. Dalman can be activated to the game-day roster at any time, within his 21-day practice window. His return bodes positively for the Falcons’ run game.
  • DET Quarterback #16
Jared Goff (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Goff didn’t sound concerned when talking to reporters after the practice and noted that he expects to return to practice on Thursday. He rolled his ankle while being sacked early in the Lions’ Week 8 win over Tennessee. Goff managed to play through the issue despite limping on the field at times and being checked out by trainers between drives. He should be good to go by the end of the week, albeit with a bit less mobility in his game for Week 9.
  • LAC Wide Receiver #1
Quentin Johnston (ankle) returned to practice Wednesday.
Johnston got banged up in Week 6. He played through the issue during that game but it became apparent that his injury was more serious once the adrenaline wore off. He was held out of the following two games, likely meaning he was dealing with a high-ankle sprain. A return to practice is a step in the right direction for the second-year wideout. The Chargers are throwing more following their Week 5 bye, giving Johnston a chance to increase his usage once healthy. He will rank as a WR4 if active for Week 9 against the Browns.
  • Browns ruled out LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (neck) for Week 9 against the Chargers.
Kevin Stefanski told reporters, “He’s getting better. No update past that.” Owusu-Koramoah reportedly visited the Browns’ team facility on Wednesday morning but returned home before noon. We’ll take his mobility as an encouraging and positive sign for his overall health and wish him a speedy recovery.
  • BAL Quarterback #8
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Lamar Jackson was given a rest day on Wednesday.
Jackson was held out of Wednesday’s practice, but Harbaugh quickly quelled any injury fears after practice. Jackson will be good to go for his Week 9 game versus the Broncos. Despite the difficult matchup, Lamar will remain the QB1 overall in the Week 9 ranks.
  • BAL Defensive Lineman #58
Ravens placed NT Michael Pierce on injured reserve with a calf injury.
John Harbaugh told reporters that Pierce’s injury is not expected to be season-ending, though an expected return-to-play timeline was not provided. Pierce must miss at least four games before he is eligible to return, making the Ravens’ Week 13 game against the Eagles his earliest possible return date.
  • SEA Wide Receiver #14
DK Metcalf (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
Per The Athletic’s Michael-Shawn Dugar, head coach Mike Macdonald said he remains optimistic that Metcalf will suit up on Sunday. Metcalf suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain in Week 7 and missed the following week. This situation remains a waiting game for fantasy managers hoping to get Metcalf back this week. The star receiver will likely need to log at least one limited practice before returning. If he can’t go, Jaxon Smith-Njigba will continue to operate as a low-ceiling No. 1 receiver for Geno Smith.
  • NO Quarterback #4
Derek Carr (oblique) returned to practice on Wednesday.
Per head coach Dennis Allen, Carr was on a pitch count at practice but did well and remains on track to play in Week 9 against the Panthers. He told reports earlier in the week that he was optimistic Carr will be able to return on Sunday. Allen also noted that Jake Haener will back him up. If all goes well, Carr will return to a high-end QB2 ranking versus a dreadful Carolina defense. Chris Olave will also vault to the top of the WR2 rankings after topping 100 yards for the first time this year in Week 8.
