  • NO Quarterback #4

Saints coach Dennis Allen said Derek Carr (oblique) will practice on Wednesday and that he is “optimistic” Carr will play on Sunday.
Carr has missed the last three weeks with the oblique issue, and his return will be a big boost for a flailing Saints outfit that has dropped six in a row. The good news? The Panthers are up next and Carr has already torched them once this season, and New Orleans has generally gotten healthier on offense over the last two weeks. Carr will be a borderline QB1 against a Panthers defense that is one of the worst in the NFL.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #10

Steelers placed WR Roman Wilson (hamstring) on injured reserve.
It continues to be a season to forget for Wilson, whose woes began with an ankle injury suffered in training camp. Now, the rookie will work to get past a hamstring injury that will sideline him for at least the next four games. Wilson has appeared in just one game this season and has not earned a target.
  • NYJ Linebacker #57
Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said C.J. Mosley (neck) had an MRI and is visiting a neck and spine specialist.
Mosley left Week 8’s game against the Patriots with a neck injury and was ruled out. These are not the words you’re wanting to read if you thought Mosley would be playing on Thursday against the Texans. Chazz Surratt replaced Mosley on Sunday and will likely start again on Thursday. Mosley, obviously, also did not practice today for the Jets.
  • TEN Linebacker #51
Titans activated LB Cedric Gray (shoulder) off injured reserve.
The team opened his window a few weeks ago and will officially have him ready for action in Week 9. Gray, Tennessee’s fourth-round pick in this past draft, will battle new acquisition Jerome Baker for a starting role next to the predictably-rough Kenneth Murray. With the Titans in freefall, it would make some sense to see if the youngster has a spark to add to the lineup.
  • DET Linebacker #44
Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz reports Lions LB Malcolm Rodriguez avoided a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s win over the Titans.
According to Schultz, Rodriguez “aggravated an old ankle injury,” and he’s likely to miss just one game as a result. It sounds like Rodriguez will miss Week 9’s game against the Packers but should have a chance to suit up in Week 10 when they visit the Texans.
  • NYJ Kicker #9
Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said the team will hold a kicking competition on Tuesday ahead of Week 9’s game against the Texans.
Greg Zuerlein missed a field goal and an extra point in New York’s loss to the Patriots and has been ghastly this year, making just 9-of-15 field goals. Ulbrich was non-committal when asked about Zuerlein’s job. It sure sounds like the Jets may make a kicker move this week.
  • NO Tight End #83
Saints coach Dennis Allen said Juwan Johnson has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol.
He was checked for a concussion during Sunday’s loss to the Chargers, but is good to practice ahead of Week 9’s matchup with the Panthers. Taysom Hill’s return has put his usage into some question, so he’s likely not a fantasy starter in most leagues at this point.
  • GB Defensive Back #23
ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reports an MRI on Jaire Alexander’s knee did now show any “significant concerns.”
Alexanders is still dealing with some general soreness in his knee, which the team will monitor throughout the week. It sounds like his Week 9 availability could be somewhat in doubt, although we’ll get a better sense of that as the team releases its injury reports throughout the week. Alexanders has been playing through a number of injuries for most of the season so this may very-well be the next thing he plays through.
  • MIA Linebacker #2
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said DE Bradley Chubb (knee)'s return is “not on my immediate horizon.”
Chubb is not ready to practice yet and McDaniel positioned the injury as “an ACL plus,” which could be a sign that we shouldn’t expect Chubb back this year. He suffered the torn ACL (and possibly the plus) last New Year’s Eve. It looks like Chubb is still a ways from returning to the practice field as he rehabs the injury.
  • LAR Cornerback #27
Rams HC Sean McVay said the team has given Tre’Davious White and his agent permission to seek a trade.
White has been a healthy scratch in each of the Ram’s last three games. The former Bill spent the first month of the season getting cooked by opposing receivers, allowing nine catches for 151 yards and four touchdowns on just 13 targets. A string of brutal injuries has undoubtedly slowed the former All-Pro, who is only 29 years old. He could likely be added for a late Day 3 pick, but his recent string of outings may be enough to keep any potential suitors away.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #5
Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Tee Higgins (quad) is “day to day.”
Helpful update, Zac. Higgins will be worth monitoring ahead of Week 9’s game against the Raiders. Injury reports will have to do the majority of the coloring for us as Taylor hasn’t exactly given much to go with again. Higgins did not play in Week 8 as a game-time decision, though he was reportedly “feeling better” on Saturday night. We’d expect him to see the practice field at some point this week to at least test out the quadriceps.
