Chris Godwin will undergo ankle surgery this week.
Godwin suffered a frightening ankle dislocation near the end of the Bucs’ Monday night loss to the Ravens and was carted off the field. His season is over. It’s a giant blow to the pass-heavy Tampa offense, along with Mike Evans’ apparently serious hamstring injury that could keep him sidelined for a while. Jalen McMillan and Sterling Shepard are set to be the team’s top two wideouts for the time being.

NewOrleans.football’s Nick Underhill reports Chris Olave (concussion) could return in Week 8.
Olave is still making his way through the league’s concussion protocol following his Week 6 brain injury but Underhill said the receiver has a chance to suit up in Week 8 against the Chargers. With Rashid Shaheed (knee) done for the season, Olave could see a spike in targets in the balanced Saints offense. Olave drafters should check his Thursday and Friday practice status before plugging him into lineups this week.
  • CLE Quarterback #19
    Browns signed QB Bailey Zappe.
Zappe had been on the Chiefs practice squad this season. The Browns last week lost Deshaun Watson for the season with an Achilles injury. Zappe will likely be an emergency third quarterback on game days behind Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Zappe in 2023 played in ten games for the Patriots, completing 60 percent of his passes for six touchdowns and nine interceptions. He ranked 35th in out 36 qualifying QBs in EPA per play.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports Mike Evans will undergo an MRI on his injured hamstring.
Evans went down with what looked to be a serious hamstring injury in Monday night’s loss to the Ravens. He entered the game nursing a hamstring issue. It’s an injury with which Evans has struggled throughout his career. It wouldn’t be surprising if Evans missed multiple weeks. Jalen McMillan and Sterling Shepard could function as the Bucs’ top two wideouts with Evans and Chris Godwin (ankle) sidelined. Cade Otton would also see a target boost.
  • WAS Quarterback #5
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Jayden Daniels (ribs) is “very much in doubt” for Week 8 against the Bears.
The Commanders, per Rapoport, are going to be “more cautious than anything” in handling the rib injury Daniels sustained in Week 7 against Carolina. Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said Daniels is “week to week,” adding the team hopes he can suit up Sunday against Chicago. Fantasy managers should assume Daniels misses at least one game. Marcus Mariota, who had 205 yards and two scores in Week 7, would get the call against the Bears if Daniels is sidelined.
  • ARI Wide Receiver #14
Michael Wilson caught 1-of-3 targets for 15 yards in the Cardinals’ Week 7 win over the Chargers.
Quarterback Kyler Murray attempted only 26 passes in a game the Cardinals controlled with their defense and ground game, playing with a lead from five minutes left in the second quarter until the two-minute warning. A last-second field goal would eventually send the team to 3-4, just one game back of the division-leading Seahawks. Up next for Wilson and the Cardinals is a Dolphins team expecting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back from his most recent concussion.
  • ARI Wide Receiver #4
Greg Dortch caught 1-of-2 targets for a five-yard touchdown in the Cardinals’ Week 7 win over the Chargers.
Dortch got the Cardinals on the board with a touchdown in the second quarter, taking a lead they would not surrender until under two minutes remaining to play in the fourth quarter. An eventual last-second field goal would send the Cardinals to 3-4, just one game back of the division-leading Seahawks as the midway point of the season approaches. Dortch does not see enough time on the field to be counted on in fantasy formats of all sizes.
  • ARI Wide Receiver #18
Marvin Harrison Jr. caught 3-of-6 targets for 21 yards in the Cardinals’ Week 7 win over the Chargers.
Harrison Jr. has all the talent in the world but continues to be restricted by his offensive coordinator, with a pass game design that fails in providing an environment conducive to upside-generating routes for the primary pass-catchers. Considering his lone eruption game this season came with quarterback Kyler Murray making plays happen out of structure, we could be continuing to share in Harrison Jr.'s visible frustration for as long as Drew Petzing is calling plays in the desert. Up next for Harrison Jr. and the Cardinals is a Dolphins team expecting to get quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back from his most recent concussion in Week 8.
  • TB Wide Receiver #15
Jalen McMillan caught 3-of-8 targets for 15 yards in Tampa Bay’s Week 7 loss to the Ravens.
Oof. A would-be touchdown clanked off his hands in the end zone as well. McMillan in theory is poised to have a big role going forward due to Chris Godwin’s certain absence and Mike Evans’ likely absence. He has five catches in five active games despite 15 targets. The volume is projectable and intriguing, but it’s not like he’s been scorching defenses in this small sample.
  • ARI Tight End #85
Trey McBride caught 5-of-7 targets for 51 yards in the Cardinals’ Week 7 win over the Chargers.
McBride led the team in targets but was out-gained by running back James Conner. While the third-year tight end continues to display elite athleticism on a weekly basis, offensive coordinator Drew Petzing’s pass offense remains unimaginative and flat, most notably constraining McBride to low upside routes over the middle of the field and to the sideline. Until that changes, McBride unfortunately feels restricted to low end TE1 production.
  • TB Tight End #88
Cade Otton caught 8-of-10 targets for 100 yards in Tampa Bay’s Week 7 loss to the Ravens.
Down 34-10 as the fourth quarter started, Otton was the hot hand against Baltimore’s prevent defense, racking up eight targets and 83 yards and getting punished heavily by Ravens defenders for the privilege. Otton would seem to be a real beneficiary of Chris Godwin’s absence going forward, and could make for an interesting waiver wire target now in our TE-starved timeline.
