The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo believes Russell Wilson’s lack of mobility could be an issue for the Steelers offense.
With Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin considering starting Wilson over Justin Fields in Week 7 against the Jets, DeFabo pointed out that Wilson has led the NFL in sacks taken in two of the past five seasons. “With an injured and inexperienced offensive line, the risk of sacks setting the Steelers back is real,” DeFabo said. “Wilson also leaned on his mobility in his younger days to extend plays and create outside of structure. The Steelers should not expect him to be this type of passer and will need to evolve the offense accordingly.” DeFabo added that Fields could still be used in certain packages as a rusher as the Steelers continue adding “new wrinkles” to the Fields-involved rushing attack. In such a scenario, Wilson would not be fantasy viable in any format.
  • CLE Safety #9

Browns S Grant Delpit (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday.
Delpit missed Week 6 with the concussion after missing all three practices. A return on Wednesday gives him a good shot at suiting up on Sunday. The Browns’ starting strong safety has 32 tackles and four TFLs this year.
  • PIT Linebacker #56
Steelers EDGE Alex Highsmith (groin) is practicing in full for Week 7 against the Jets.
Highsmith has missed three games with the groin injury. He had one sack and two TFLs over the first three weeks before going down with the injury. Highsmith told reporters that he is on track to return this week.
  • IND Quarterback #5
Anthony Richardson (oblique) is practicing in full for Week 7 against the Dolphins.
Shane Steichen has said repeatedly that Richardson is the Colts’ starter when healthy and he will play this week barring any setbacks. A full practice on Wednesday suggests he is back to full strength. Richardson’s accuracy issue and a lack of elite rushing output were already putting him on the edge of the QB1 ranks before the oblique injury. In his first game back, Richardson will sit at the top of the QB2 ranks.
  • GB Wide Receiver #13
Dontayvion Wicks (shoulder) practiced on Wednesday.
Wicks left Sunday’s game against the Cardinals in the first quarter because of a shoulder injury. He was initially listed as questionable to return but was later ruled out. Early reports said he was considered week-to-week, but a return to practice this soon gives him a shot at suiting up for Week 7. Wicks wore a brace on his upper arm at practice and should be listed as a limited participant, but it’s a step in the right direction for the second-year wideout.
  • CAR Tight End #82
Panthers TE Tommy Tremble (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday.
Tremble donned a non-contact jersey for the first session of the week and remains in the league’s concussion protocol. He missed Week 6 with the brain injury but is making progress toward a Week 7 return. J’Tavion Sanders caught five passes for 49 yards last week. He has some low-end TE2 juice with Tremble out but is not on the fantasy radar when Tremble is healthy.
  • CAR Tackle #72
Panthers RT Taylor Moton (triceps) did not practice Wednesday.
Moton missed Week 6 with the injury and looks unlikely to make his return in Week 7. He is currently considered week-to-week. Yosh Nijman will start at right tackle until Moton is healthy.
  • TEN Running Back #2
Tyjae Spears (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Combined with head coach Brian Callahan calling him “week to week,” a DNP on Wednesday suggests Spears will not suit up in Week 7. Tony Pollard had already cemented himself as the top option in Tennessee’s backfield. Spears’ absence will put an elite workload on his plate. Pollard will sit near the top of the RB2 rankings if Spears is ruled out.
  • NYG Defensive Lineman #97
Giants DT Dexter Lawrence (hip) did not practice Wednesday.
Head coach Brian Daboll called Lawrence “day to day.” The veteran of six seasons is no stranger to playing through injuries and doesn’t need a full week of practices in order to suit up on Sunday. A DNP on Wednesday isn’t the end of the world for him. His practice status on Thursday will be more revealing. The stud defensive tackle has seven sacks and five TFLs this year.
  • NYJ Quarterback #8
Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulrbich told reporters Aaron Rodgers (ankle) will play in Week 7 against the Steelers.
Rodgers played through the ankle issue last week and didn’t suffer any setbacks. He won’t participate in today’s walkthrough but isn’t at risk of missing Week 7. The Jets’ offense hasn’t found its footing in Rodgers’ de facto first season with the team, but the newly-acquired Davante Adams should spark an uptick in scoring given Rodgers’ unparalleled connection with him. Rodgers will move up a few spots in the QB2 ranks for his upcoming matchup with the Steelers.
  • NYJ Wide Receiver
Davante Adams (hamstring) is practicing in full for Week 7 against the Steelers.
Jets interim head coach told reporters Adams will play this week. Adams’ instant recovery from the hamstring injury following his trade to the Jets can only be described as a miracle of modern medicine. Aaron Rodgers’ favorite receiver will be good to go for Week 7. His familiarity with the offense and the quarterback put him near the WR1 ranks for his Jets debut.
