  • CLE Running Back #34
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Jerome Ford (hamstring) will be “week to week.”
Ford’s time as the lead back was winding down with Nick Chubb likely to be activated from injured reserve in the near future anyway, so fantasy managers in questionable roster situations can probably safely discard him if they need space. Week-to-week has been the new injury buzz word this week from coaches and it’s likely that Ford is set to miss at least a week, perhaps two, with the hamstring injury he suffered in the first quarter. D’Onta Foreman and Pierre Strong would get a crack in a committee if Chubb isn’t ready for Week 7 against the Bengals.
  • NYJ Running Back #25
Jets declared RB Israel Abanikanda, CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse, CB Michael Carter, WR Malachi Corley, DE Braiden McGregor, OT Max Mitchell, and OT Carter Warren inactive for Week 6 against the Bills.
Nothing too major here as the Jets inch closer to full strength. Most notably, wide receiver Mike Williams played his heaviest snap rate of the season in Week 5, something that could shift the emphasis of the offense further towards 11-personnel in the immediate future.
  • BUF Running Back #4
Bills RB James Cook (toe) is out for Monday Night Football in Week 6 against the Jets.
Cook indicated on Saturday that he intended to play, something that came into question when the team elevated Frank Gore Jr. early Monday. Ultimately, the veteran running back was unable to exhibited enough health to suit up in Week 6, making it likely we see Ray Davis and Ty Johnson split the backfield work against the Jets. Also inactive for the Bills are S Mike Edwards, LB Joe Andreessen, LB Edufuan Ulofoshio, G/C Will Clapp, and DT Ed Oliver.
  • JAX Safety #29
The NFL did not reinstate Jaguars S Tashaun Gipson from his six-game suspension on Monday.
We’re not quite sure why Gipson wasn’t reinstated, but barring a change later in the week, it sounds like the veteran safety will remain ineligible for the Jaguars’ Week 7 game against the Patriots in London. Gipson was suspended earlier this offseason for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substances policy and signed with the Jaguars back in August.
  • BUF Running Back #4
The Bills have elevated Frank Gore Jr. from the practice squad ahead of Monday evening’s game against the Jets.
It’s a big moment for Gore, who signed with the Bills as a rookie UDFA this offseason, but the elevation draws James Cook’s Week 6 availability into question. ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg said of the decision that it “will be interesting to see what this means” for Cook, while noting it “doesn’t seem to be a positive development for his injury status.” Cook, who is dealing with a toe injury, did not practice on Thursday or Friday but was able to log a limited session on Saturday. He enters tonight carrying a questionable tag, and said on Saturday he plans to play, so we’ll see what happens when the Bills announce their inactives 90 minutes before kickoff. In the event Cook is unable to go, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson would be the favorites to work in his place, with Davis likely earning the early-down touches.
  • PIT Center #54
FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz reports Steelers C Zach Frazier is week-to-week with an ankle injury.
Frazier becomes the latest offensive lineman for the Steelers to get shelved due to injury. The rookie second-rounder did not suffer any structural damage to his ankle, per Schultz, but will miss at least one game due to his injury. The rookie has started all six games the Steelers have played in this season and has earned a PFF blocking grade of 82.2 and an 84.1 run-blocking grade.
  • ARI Wide Receiver #17
Cardinals activated WR Zay Jones to their 53-man roster.
Jones was reinstated from a five-game suspension by the team last week but missed Week 6’s contest against the Packers due to a hamstring injury. Now healthy, the veteran receiver will have a chance to suit up for Week 7 against the Chargers on Monday night, and could play a bigger role than expected with Marvin Harrison Jr. currently dealing with a concussion.
  • SF Running Back #24
Jordan Mason (shoulder) participated in Monday’s 49ers practice.
It’s good news that Mason is active for the practice, though ideally we’d prefer if he didn’t wear the non-contact “blue” jersey that he did on Monday. There won’t be a report for this practice as it isn’t Wednesday yet, but this would seem to suggest Mason has a good chance of being active for Week 7 against the Chiefs.
  • NYJ Defensive Tackle #92
Jets activated DL Leki Fotu (hamstring) from injured reserve.
Fotu has missed the first four games of the season and will be making his Jets debut. He came over from the Cardinals this offseason as a free agent. Fotu had 2.5 sacks and five TFLs in 11 games for the Cardinals in 2023.
  • SF Wide Receiver #14
49ers designed WR Ricky Pearsall (NFI) for return.
Pearsall rookie season was put on hold after the first-round receiver fell victim to a gunshot during an armed robbery time. Now ready to resume football activities, Pearsall will begin practicing with the 49ers this week, and has 21 days to be activated from the NFI list. It’s difficult to know how Pearsall will fit into a passing game that features Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle as its top target earners, so we wouldn’t expect much fantasy upside out of the gate. He’s an interesting stash for deeper leagues, but isn’t a must-add at this time.
  • NO Tight End #7
Saints listed TE Taysom Hill (ribs) as limited in Monday’s practice.
Hill has missed the Saints’ last two games with his rib injury. He was listed as a DNP all of last week, meaning Monday’s limited status is an upgrade for the do-it-all player. With Chris Olave (concussion) and Rashid Shaheed (knee) both opening the week as DNPs, it’s possible the Saints will need Hill more than usual if he’s able to go.
