  • NYG Running Back #26
Devin Singletary (groin) did not practice Wednesday.
This is the first we’re hearing about Singletary’s groin issue. He’s coming off a down game against Dallas, one of the NFL’s worst rush defenses. Singletary has functioned as one of the league’s only true workhorse running backs over the season’s first month. Tyrone Tracy and Eric Gray would likely split the workload in Week 5 against the Seahawks if Singletary is out.
  • JAX Running Back #4
Jaguars RB Tank Bigsby (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Bigsby got rocked on a kick return in Week 3 and left the game with a shoulder injury. He returned for a few special teams snaps but didn’t see the field on offense. He appeared to be roughly at full strength in Week 4, running for 90 yards on seven attempts. He should be good to go for the Jags’ Week 5 matchup with the Colts.
  • WAS Running Back #30
Austin Ekeler (concussion) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Ekeler was unable to play in Week 4 due to the concussion but kicking Week 5 off as a limited participant is a step in the right direction. With starter Brian Robinson Jr. nursing a knee injury, Ekeler could operate as the team’s Week 5 starter against the Browns.
  • JAX Running Back #1
Travis Etienne (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Etienne suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of the Jags’ loss to the Texans and was listed as questionable to return. He missed a few snaps but was back on the field rather quickly. A limited session to open the week suggests he will have no issues suiting up for Week 5. With Tank Bigsby looking better and taking more work by the week, Etienne is dangerously close to falling out of the RB2 ranks.
  • WAS Running Back #8
Brian Robinson Jr. (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
Robinson was also listed on the Week 2 injury report with a knee injury so it is possible this is a recurring issue. The third-year running back is already up to 375 yards from scrimmage, sitting as the RB14 in PPR scoring. Practicing even in a limited capacity on Thursday would bode positively for his Week 5 availability.
  • IND Running Back #28
Jonathan Taylor (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Taylor suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Colts’ Week 4 win over the Steelers. His absence from practice isn’t a surprise and he is likely to miss multiple weeks with the ankle injury. Trey Sermon is the next man up for Indy. He should get the bulk of the carries with Tyler Goodson pitching in on passing downs. Sermon should be added in all formats and will rank as a high-risk RB3 once Taylor is ruled out.
  • IND Quarterback #5
Anthony Richardson (oblique) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Richardson told reporters he wouldn’t practice before Wednesday’s session but was spotted doing some light throwing before being listed as limited. It’s safe to say he was extremely limited and his availability for Week 5 remains in question. Still, a light practice to start the week is a step in the right direction. If he can’t suit up, Joe Flacco will make his first start for the Colts this week. Flacco would boost the fantasy outlooks of all Colts pass-catchers.
  • CHI Defensive End #98
Montez Sweat (ankle) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Sweat (11 pressures) is the only Bears defender with double-digit QB pressures this season. Thursday should clarify his Week 5 availability. The Bears will need him against a surprisingly scrappy Panthers offense, now helmed by Andy Dalton.
  • CHI Tight End #85
Cole Kmet (knee) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
This is a new injury for Kmet and it is unclear as to whether he suffered it before or during Wednesday’s practice. Kmet has finished as a PPR TE1 just once this season, splitting time with Gerald Everett and Mercedes Lewis. This is an unideal development for the struggling player.
  • MIA Linebacker #15
Dolphins EDGE Jaelan Phillips (knee) will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.
Phillips relayed the news via an Instagram post. He did not get into specific details on the nature of the injury but did say he will undergo reconstructive surgery on his knee. It’s the second year in a row that has ended with an injury for Phillips. He suffered a torn Achilles late in the 2023 season. This is yet another blow to a Miami roster that has already lost multiple players to long-term injuries.
  • BUF Defensive Back #7
Bills CB Taron Johnson (forearm) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Bills LB Terrel Bernard (pectoral) also returned in a limited capacity. Both players have been sidelined with multi-week injuries. Their potential return in Week 5 would bode positively for the Bills’ interior defense; Johnson is the team’s primary slot cornerback.
