  • CIN Quarterback #9
Joe Burrow completed 29-of-38 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns in the Bengals’ 38-33, Week 3 loss to the Commanders, adding four yards on his lone carry.
Burrow and the Bengals offense struggled in the red zone against an opponent largely incapable of keeping opposition out of the paint. Even with the struggles in the red zone, the loss can be attributed to a missed field goal and a failed two-point conversion in the fourth quarter, which makes up the five-point margin of defeat. Burrow looked sharp with his full supporting cast of skill position players, but was largely held down by inefficient play calling from head coach Zac Taylor, particularly in the red zone. The 0-3 Bengals have not experienced the start to the season they had hoped, especially with losses to the Commanders and Patriots, two teams expected to be in the bottom five coming into the season. That trend continues in Week 4 when the Bengals travel to Carolina to face the Panthers.
  • CIN Tight End #88
Mike Gesicki caught 4-of-5 targets for 47 yards in the Bengals’ Week 3 loss to the Commanders.
Gesicki continues splitting time at tight end with multiple other options, but his box scores keep telling the tale of the primary pass-catching option at the position for the Bengals. His targets per route run rate currently reside in the top 12 at the position through three weeks, meaning he could return consistent fantasy production in PPR and TE-premium formats moving forward.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #5
Tee Higgins caught 3-of-5 targets for 39 yards in the Bengals’ Week 3 loss to the Commanders.
Even with the mundane box score, Higgins was on the field for most of the game, saw an end zone target, and was the target on a failed two-point conversion in the third quarter. He should return more inspiring fantasy performances as he works his way back to full strength.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #80
Andrei Iosivas caught 5-of-7 targets for 52 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals’ Week 3 loss to the Commanders.
Iosivas tacked on his third score of the season in the third quarter on a fourth down play from two yards out, proving that his performance with Tee Higgins sidelined was not a fluke. That also presents a solid opportunity for fantasy managers to continue deploying the Cincinnati slot man as bye weeks loom, particularly in PPR formats.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #1
Ja’Marr Chase caught 6-of-7 targets for 118 yards and two touchdowns in the Bengals’ Week 3 loss to the Commanders.
Chase took advantage of a soft matchup against the Commanders, hauling in two touchdowns on his way to his best fantasy performance of the first three weeks. Play calling remains an issue from head coach Zac Taylor, who largely fails to place his skill position players in position to maximize their upside, instead relying on their skill to win out. It’s a trend that has persisted throughout Taylor’s tenure in Cincinnati, meaning Chase is likely to have to continue to overcome his head coach’s play calling tendencies until a change is made.
  • CIN Running Back #31
Zack Moss rushed 12 times for 58 yards in the Bengals’ Week 3 loss to the Commanders, adding 39 yards on five receptions.
Moss continued in the lead back role for the Bengals, seeing 18 opportunities to the 10 of Chase Brown. Even though Brown is clearly the more explosive back, Moss has done nothing but return consistent production for the Bengals through three games and should continue leading the backfield in opportunities moving forward.
  • CIN Running Back #30
Chase Brown rushed seven times for 62 yards in the Bengals’ Week 3 loss to the Commanders, adding seven yards on two receptions.
Brown saw a slight boost to his involvement against an opponent largely incapable to generating pressure int he backfield, handling 10 opportunities to the 18 of Zach Moss. Unfortunately for Brown’s fantasy managers, it was Moss that punched in the only touchdown from the backfield. With good coaching and more experience, Brown could return tantalizing upside. That said, he currently exhibits a tendency of impatience behind the offensive line in addition to routinely beating his blockers to the hole.
  • WAS Wide Receiver #12
Luke McCaffrey caught all three targets for 44 yards in the Commanders’ Week 3 win over the Bengals.
McCaffrey made a splash early in this one, hauling in a 30-yard catch-and-run pass on fourth down in the first quarter to extend a would-be touchdown drive. He has yet to earn a full allotment of snaps with the Commanders, something that appears unlikely on a weekly basis considering the offseason acquisition of Noah Brown. Either way, he looks like a solid hold in deeper fantasy leagues for now.
  • WAS Wide Receiver #85
Noah Brown caught all three targets for 29 yards in the Commanders’ Week 3 win over the Bengals.
Despite the modest receiving line, Brown drew the start in Week 3 after joining the franchise just weeks before the start of the regular season. Considering his athletic profile and the lack of viable secondary options in the pass game behind Terry McLaurin, Brown could prove useful in fantasy circles for the remainder of the regular season.
  • WAS Tight End #86
Zach Ertz caught all five targets for 38 yards in the Commanders’ Week 3 win over the Bengals.
Ertz continues to perform in the clutch for the Commanders despite not playing an every-down role at his age. That said, his ability to settle in the holes of zone coverage and present a target for his rookie quarterback is invaluable at this stage of Daniels’ career. He should continue with steady yet modest production moving forward as a primary outlet over the short-middle of the field.
  • WAS Wide Receiver #17
Terry McLaurin caught 4-of-6 targets for 100 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders’ Week 3 win over the Bengals.
McLaurin caught a pair of deep balls from quarterback Jayden Daniels, the first going for 55 yards in the first half and the second a highlight reel touchdown catch on a beautiful raindrop pass from Daniels off his back foot to seal the victory in the fourth quarter. It was refreshing to see McLaurin finally targeted on deep passes after running mostly short area routes through the first two weeks of the season. McLaurin could find further success in Week 4 when the Commanders travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals.
