  • LAC Wide Receiver #83
Chargers signed WR Jalen Reagor to the practice squad.
The former first-round wide receiver has failed to carve out a significant role with three different franchises during his four-year NFL career, landing now in a rather talent-deprived wide receiver room with the Chargers. The team hosted him for a visit on Monday and signed him to the practice squad the same day. He’ll at least have a chance to earn his way onto the active game-day roster in the near future.
  • CIN Tackle #77
Bengals OT Trent Brown (knee) was carted off in the second quarter in Week 3 against the Commanders.
Brown’s knee appeared to give out while in pass protection and the cart was brought out to escort the veteran tackle to the locker room. Based on video and the fact he had to be carted off, it appears likely the Bengals will be without the 10-year veteran right tackle for some time.
  • JAX Cornerback #22
Jaguars CB Jarrian Jones (shoulder) is questionable to return to Monday Night Football against the Bills.
Jones hurt his shoulder on the first drive of the game. If he’s unable to return, it would be a big loss for the Jaguars. Jones is their starting slot cornerback, and the team is already without starting cornerback Tyson Campbell and starting safety Darnell Savage. That makes things tough against Josh Allen and the Bills.
  • LAC Safety #3
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports NFL suspended Chargers S Derwin James for one game.
James caught a suspension for “repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players.” One of the plays in question occurred in Sunday’s loss to the Steelers. It’s terrible timing considering a matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in Week 4.
  • CIN Defensive Lineman #98
Bengals declared WR Trenton Irwin, OG Jaxson Kirkland, TE Tanner McLachlan, TE Tanner Hudson, DT B.J. Hill, and DT Sheldon Rankins inactive for Week 3 against the Commanders.
The bigger news is that wide receiver Tee Higgins will make his season debut in Week 3 against the sieve-like pass defense of the Commanders. It doesn’t help the Bengals to have two missing defensive tackles, potentially creating a softer matchup on the ground in the heart of the Bengals defense.
  • WAS Defensive Back #13
Commanders declared DE Clelin Ferrell, CB Emmanuel Forbes, QB Sam Hartman, S Darrick Forrest, TE Colson Yankoff, LB Dominique Hampton, and OG Chris Paul inactive for Week 3 against the Bengals.
Forbes was initially listed as questionable after avoiding a stint on injured reserve this week, ultimately failing to do enough throughout the week to play against the Bengals. He is now only 10 days removed from a surgery to repair a torn UCL in his thumb, meaning he could be at risk of missing Week 4 as well.
  • SF Running Back #23
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) will see a specialist in Germany for his Achilles.
McCaffrey, who was placed on injured reserve earlier in the season, was already reportedly looking at a six week or more absence due to Achilles tendinitis, with the reports now coming in that he will see a specialist in Germany to further address the issue. He initially attempted to play through the ailment but was placed on injured reserve following a flare up after practice before the team’s Week 2 contest. This certainly does not sound promising for the reigning touchdown leader moving forward.
  • SF Defensive Lineman #98
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said DT Javon Hargrave will be out for the season with a partially torn tricep.
Hargrave’s most recent injury was initially reported as a contusion, with head coach Kyle Shanahan revealing to the media today that the veteran defensive tackle partially tore his tricep in the team’s Week 3 loss to the Rams. He will now miss the remainder of the 2024 regular season.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #19
NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports Panthers WR Adam Thielen “is expected to miss some time” with a hamstring injury.
Schultz adds that the timeline for a return remains unclear, which makes sense considering his age and history of soft tissue injuries. The 34-year-old veteran has eight catches for 109 yards and a touchdown through three games, leaving the Panthers scrambling to fill the WR2 role in his absence. Expect the offense to flow through Diontae Johnson at an increasingly steady rate moving forward.
  • JAX Tight End #17
Evan Engram (hamstring) is inactive for Monday Night Football in Week 3 against the Jaguars.
This was always thought to be the case but is now official, with Brenton Strange expected to fill a more robust pass-catching role after logging 68% of the team’s snaps in Week 2. Also inactive for the Jagaurs are DB Darnell Savage, DE Myles Cole, OL Javon Foster, OL Cole Van Lanen, DT Esezi Otomewo, and DT Jordan Jefferson.
  • BUF Defensive Back #7
Bills declared OT Ryan Van Demark, LB Terrel Bernard, LB Edefuan Ulofoshio, CB Taron Johnson, and S Mike Edwards inactive for Week 3 against the Jaguars.
Johnson will miss his second consecutive game after being injured early in the team’s opening contest, which has resulted in Cam Lewis stepping into a near every-down role at nickel corner for the Bills over the previous two weeks. Expect more of the same in Week 3.
