Matthew Stafford completed 34-of-49 passes for 317 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Rams’ 26-20, Week 1 overtime loss to the Lions.
Stafford lost one of his top pass-catchers early in the second quarter after Puka Nacua aggravated the knee injury that had him on the injury report leading up to Week 1, forcing a heavy dose of Cooper Kupp for the remainder of the game. He fed Kupp an ungodly 21 targets on a ridiculous 49 pass attempts. Unfortunately for the Rams, the Lions got the ball back for a two-minute drill and eventually tied the game with under a minute left to force overtime. They would then win the coin toss and the drive the field for the clinching touchdown and Stafford and the Rams would not touch the ball again. It was a valiant effort considering the stout nature of the Lions run defense, which forced the lofty pass attempt numbers. We’ll have to wait and see how Nacua’s knee responds in the coming week as it could force a similar setup when the Rams travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals in Week 2, albeit in a much friendlier ground matchup.

Bijan Robinson rushed 19 times for 86 yards in Atlanta’s Week 9 win over the Cowboys, adding seven catches for 59 yards on seven targets.
Robinson dominated usage, with 12 touches before Tyler Allgeier even saw one. But Atlanta’s offensive line was stymied in big moments by the Cowboys, and Robinson’s last touchdown chance was vultured by Allgeier. He’ll be an easy smash RB1 play against the Saints next week, though he’ll be more likely to take a seat on the bench at some point during that game given how poorly New Orleans has played of late.
  • TEN Wide Receiver #15
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine caught 5-of-6 targets for 59 yards with a touchdown in the Titans’ Week 9 overtime win over the Patriots.
  • CIN Running Back #30
Chase Brown rushed 27 times for 120 yards in the Bengals’ Week 9 win over the Raiders, adding five receptions for 37 yards.
Brown saw a monstrous workload with Zack Moss (neck) out, garnering a whopping 32 touches. To contextualize that, he touched the ball on 32-of-70 offensive plays, or a 46 percent opportunity share. He saw eight of his touches on the first Bengals drive of the game, ending it with a one-yard receiving score. If Moss stays out, Brown will continue to see the lion’s share of backfield opportunity. The massive workload could take a toll on his recovery with a short week ahead of a Thursday game, but Brown is a back-end fantasy RB1 against the Ravens for Week 10.
  • ATL Quarterback #18
Kirk Cousins completed 19-of-24 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns in Atlanta’s 27-21, Week 9 win over the Cowboys.
Cousins didn’t need to do much more than pound the intermediate against the Cowboys, his longest completion was a 36-yarder to Darnell Mooney on fourth-and-short where Trevon Diggs was picked and Mooney ran untouched into the end zone. The Falcons probably turtled a bit without Drake London. Regardless, Cousins-reliant managers have to be pleased with the line and should be hungry for more against a fading Saints defense in Week 10. Cousins should easily be in the QB1 conversation for that game.
  • MIA Quarterback #1
Tua Tagovailoa completed 25-of-28 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns in the Dolphins’ 30-27, Week 9 loss to the Bills, adding two carries for three yards.
As you can see from the box score, Tagovailoa was deadly accurate on his screen passes, check downs and swings, but he didn’t venture down the field too often. His longest completion was a 28-yarder to Tyreek Hill where the wideout had to come back to the ball. The most notable play of the game was probably a fourth quarter fourth down scramble where Tagovailoa showed no fear as he dove for the first down. It was difficult to watch considering his concussion history, but it moved the chains. The Bills’ defenders almost appeared as if they did not want to hit the quarterback on the run. Tagovailoa has pushed the buttons just fine since his return, but this offense is still missing its explosive plays from the past few seasons. Tagovailoa’s Week 10 date with the Rams could go either way for fantasy purposes.
  • BAL Running Back #43
Justice Hill rushed five times for 15 yards in the Ravens’ Week 9 win over the Broncos, adding three receptions for 43 yards.
Lamar Jackson dropped a deep shot in the bucket for a 24-yard grab from Hill in the second quarter. Hill also got a crack at goal line duties in the third quarter but couldn’t punch it in from four yards out. Fullback Patrick Ricard caught a three-yard touchdown on the next play. Hill has made the occasional splash play for Baltimore but doesn’t see the ball enough to escape the RB5 ranks. He will fall off the fantasy radar entirely when Keaton Mitchell returns from injured reserve.
  • LAC Running Back #27
J.K. Dobbins had 14 rushes for 85 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers’ Week 9 win against the Browns, adding two catches for 20 yards.
Dobbins had plenty of room with which to operate against a middling Cleveland rush defense that had been exploited in recent weeks. Dobbins scored two short touchdowns, including one in garbage time. Kimani Vidal, meanwhile, had five rushing attempts for just seven yards. Coming into the week, Dobbins had at least three receptions in four of the past five games. Dobbins, with at least 14 rushes in every game but one this season, will be a RB2 with touchdown upside in Week 10 against the Titans.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #1
Jalen Tolbert caught 3-of-6 targets for 19 yards and a touchdown in Dallas’ Week 9 loss to Atlanta.
Since Tolbert’s breakout game against the Steelers in Week 5, he’s been targeted 13 times over three games and managed just 106 yards. The touchdown saved any deep-league or emergency starters, but Tolbert has not shown any signs of being consistently useful for fantasy purposes.
  • BUF Quarterback #17
Josh Allen completed 25-of-39 passes for 235 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the Bills’ 30-27, Week 9 win over the Dolphins, adding two carries for seven yards.
Allen’s three highest pass attempt totals have now come in the three games since the Bills acquired Amari Cooper. He’s also combined for just 12 rushes in that timespan. Cooper, of course, did not play this afternoon as he nursed a wrist injury, but it’s safe to say his arrival signaled a commitment to a more pass-first approach after months of middling returns as a run-based offense. Not that Allen’s running has been completely buried. He had a beautiful 21-yard ground score called back by a phantom holding penalty in the dying moments of the second quarter. It was enough to make a fantasy manager sick, but Allen compensated with boffo second half passing production, including all three of his scores. Allen was forced to target Mack Hollins far too often, while Keon Coleman (arm) joined Cooper on the shelf late. That will be something to monitor closely ahead of Week 10 against the Colts.
  • CIN Quarterback #9
Joe Burrow completed 27-of-39 passes for 251 yards, five touchdowns and an interception in the Bengals’ 41-24, Week 9 win over the Raiders.
The Bengals offense continued its ho-hum ways, with Burrow completing his first 15 passes, nearly all thrown less than 10 yards downfield. With Tee Higgins out, the game plan continues to be screen passes to Ja’Marr Chase with short-yardage tosses to tight ends and running backs and the occasional deep shot. It all clicked against a weak Raiders defense as Burrow threw five touchdowns to four different receivers. His sole interception was in the second half, on a screen play to Chase that Raiders DB Jack Jones returned for a touchdown. A 47-yard touchdown to a wide-open Mike Gesicki inflated Burrow’s yardage totals as fantasy managers can expect tight ends and short throws to be a big part of Burrow’s game while Higgins is out. He will have more chances to throw the ball downfield on a short turnaround Thursday game against a weak Ravens defense.
