Lamar Jackson completed 26-of-41 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens’ 27-20, Week 1 loss to the Chiefs, adding 16 rushes for 122 yards.
Jackson also lost a fumble inside his own 20-yard line. This one contained multitudes, as Jackson — who was looking noticeably svelte, as promised — was continually thwarted by poor offensive line play and some “what might have been throws” from himself. That includes multiple missed connections on what was agonizingly close to being the game-tying or winning drive with time running out in the fourth quarter. The story of the game, beyond LT Ronnie Stanley’s constant illegal formation penalties, was Jackson’s 9/111/1 connection with Isaiah Likely and comparative struggle to connect with Mark Andrews and Zay Flowers. Jackson missed Flowers on what should have been a layup score on the aforementioned final drive, and also missed Likely on several critical throws. On the other hand, Jackson employed his skinnier frame as expected with his 122 yards rushing being the third most of his increasingly illustrious career. There is so much to clean up here, but the Ravens and Jackson were still ultimately a Likely shoe tip away from potentially pulling off a stunning road upset (the Ravens had planned to go for two). Jackson now has 10 days to rest up for what should be an easier matchup with the Raiders.
  • NYG Punter #11

Ravens agreed to terms with P Jordan Stout, formerly of the Ravens, on a three-year, $12.3 million contract.
New Giants coach John Harbaugh must really love this guy, as he was in Baltimore when the Ravens made him a fourth-round pick in 2022. This is the richest deal in NFL history for a punter. 27-year-old Stout was indeed a first-team All Pro in 2025, while the field position game is more important than ever with short kickoff fields and punters growing ever more talented and sophisticated. The G-Men also have a rookie quarterback contract. That’s the long way of saying they can afford this kind of splurge at a non-premium position.
TE Smith can regain fantasy value with right team
No longer part of an "ugly" fantasy situation with the Steelers, Denny Carter lays out why tight end Jonnu Smith could regain his fantasy "viability" with the right offense in 2026.
  • TB Running Back #14
Bucs agreed to terms with RB Kenneth Gainwell, formerly of the Steelers, on a two-year, $14 million contract.
Rachaad White is a free agent and the Bucs chose not to tender Sean Tucker, a restricted free agent, so the team entered free agency without a backup to Bucky Irving. Gainwell will take on that role and a $14 million contract suggests he could earn more than just backup duties. After catching 73 passes for 486 yards and three scores in 2025, Gainwell would be a natural replacement for White’s role as the team’s primary option on passing downs. Bucky Irving should still be in line for the bulk of the carries, but Gainwell could take the PPR floor out from under him.
  • ATL Tight End #81
Falcons agreed to terms with Austin Hooper, formerly of the Patriots, on a one-year, $3.25 million contract.
Kyle Pitts has a caddy for 2026. Hooper spent the first four years of his career with Atlanta, but has not started more than 10 games since 2021 and is likely just a backup barring some sort of shocking Pitts trade. At 32, Hooper will be well off the fantasy radar. It’s a fine depth signing for Atlanta.
  • TEN Quarterback #11
Titans agreed to terms with QB Mitchell Trubisky, formerly of the Bills, on a two-year contract.
This is a logical landing spot for both sides, as Trubisky spent the 2021 season in Buffalo when the current Titans OC, Brian Daboll, was the Bills’ offensive coordinator. Trubisky hasn’t started a game since 2023, and has thrown for 492-6-0 while appearing in 13 games over the last two seasons. He’ll serve as a good mentor for Cam Ward and will be a reliable option in a pinch of Ward were to ever miss time.
  • NYJ Linebacker #56
Jets agreed to terms with LB Demario Davis, formerly of the Saints, on a two-year, $22 million contract.
37-year-old Davis is taking home $15 million guaranteed. If that seems like a princely sum for a linebacker closer to 40 than 30, it’s because Davis remains not only an every-down player, but an effective one. That will be put to the test on the rebuilding Jets, but his veteran presence and leadership should be a big asset for a team that was rudderless in 2025. Davis has appeared in at least 16 games every season since 2012. Remarkable at a position that takes as many hits as running back.
  • NO Defensive Tackle #95
Saints re-signed DT John Ridgeway to a two-year, $6.2 million contract.
The Saints made a late-round pick swap with the Commanders to acquire Ridgeway two years ago. He missed most of the season after suffering a pec injury in August. Ridgeway totaled 11 combined tackles, one TFL, and one QB hit in his four appearances in 2025. The Saints clearly think he can contribute more after a healthy offseason.
  • CAR Defensive Back #21
Panthers re-signed CB Akayleb Evans to a one-year contract.
26-year-old Evans mixes in sporadically on defense, but is primarily a core special teamer. Signing at this stage of the offseason suggests the Panthers like him enough that his 53-man roster spot should be secure heading into training camp.
  • NYJ Defensive Lineman #55
Jets agreed to terms with EDGE Kingsley Enagbare, formerly of the Packers, on a one-year, $10 million contract.
Enagbare was expected to be part of the Packers exodus to Miami, but instead lands with the Jets on a one-year contract to try to set himself up for a bigger payday next offseason. The 26-year-old had 11.5 sacks in four years with the Packers and added 17 hurries (per PFF) in literally every year of his career. He’ll try to parlay what we assume is a starting role with the Jets into a major deal in 2027.
  • NYJ Defensive End #58
Jets agreed to terms with EDGE Joseph Ossai, formerly of the Bengals, on a three-year, $36 million contract.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the deal includes "$22.5 million fully guaranteed.” The No. 69 overall pick of the 2021 draft, Ossai played out his rookie deal with the Bengals before tacking on an extra year last season. More of a rotational pass rusher than true difference-making EDGE threat, Ossai theoretically still offers upside at age 26 (next month). He is still nevertheless the kind of player who fills out a defense rather than elevate it.
  • MIN Cornerback #42
Vikings agreed to terms with CB James Pierre, formerly of the Steelers, on a two-year, $8.5 million contract.
It was recently reported by Senior NFL insider Josina Anderson that Pierre had “eight to nine teams” interested in his services. Now, the 29-year-old corner lands with the Vikings, reuniting with defensive coordinator Brian Flores, who he worked with in Pittsburgh. Pierre appeared in 10 games for the Steelers last season, earning a PFF coverage grade of 89.7 while allowing just 14 receptions for 142 yards and one touchdown on 33 targets. Pierre plays almost exclusively on the outside and will bolster a Vikings pass defense that was among the league’s best last season.
