Giants coach Brian Daboll confirms that he will take over play-calling in 2024
Daboll had taken on a bigger role in play-calling during OTAs and minicamp, but he confirmed on Tuesday that he will be calling plays and not offensive coordinator Mike Kafka. It’s not a surprising development since Daboll got the Giants’ head coaching job primarily because of his play-calling in Buffalo as the team’s offensive coordinator. With a lot on the line for the Giants and Daboll following a poor 2023 season, the head coach clearly wants to make sure the offense succeeds or fails with him calling the shots.

KaVontae Turpin caught 4-of-5 targets for 53 yards in the Cowboys’ Week 13 win over the Giants.
  • DAL Tight End #86
Luke Schoonmaker caught 5-of-6 targets for 33 yards in the Cowboys’ Week 13 win over the Giants.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #88
CeeDee Lamb caught 2-of-6 targets for 39 yards in the Cowboys’ Week 13 win over the Giants.
Lamb dropped three passes in the contest; one of which on a play where he could have run forever if he made the catch. More concerning was that Lamb appeared to injure his shoulder in the second half, and didn’t play in the second half. The Cowboys didn’t provide an injury report, but fantasy managers will want to check and see what Lamb’s status is for Week 14 against the Bengals on Monday night.
  • NYG Wide Receiver #1
Malik Nabers caught 8-of-13 targets for 69 yards in the Giants’ Week 13 loss to the Cowboys.
Nabers had a long catch taken away by a holding penalty. His long on the day was an 18-yard catch down the sideline that set up a score. For the most part, Nabers did most of his damage underneath, in large part due to the Giants being unable to protect Drew Lock. Nabers will be in the WR1 discussion for Week 14 against the Saints.
  • NYG Running Back #29
Tyrone Tracy ran nine times for 32 yards and a touchdown in the Giants’ Week 13 loss to the Cowboys while adding two receptions for 33 yards.
Tracy turned an awful fantasy game into simply a disappointing one with a one-yard plunge. He showed off his ability to miss tackles on an impressive 18-yard catch that should have gone for just a couple yards, but there was no running room against a Dallas team that had zero respect for Drew Lock. Tracy will get a chance to bounce back in Week 14 against the Saints.
  • DAL Running Back #23
Rico Dowdle ran 22 times for 112 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys’ Week 13 win over the Giants while adding three catches for 11 yards.
Not only was this Dowdle’'s first game over the century mark, it was the first time in 26 contests that any Dallas runner has reached that club. He saw some open lanes, but 80 of the yards were created after contact, and most if not all the credit goes to Dowdle. No other Cowboys’ runner had more than three carries, so calling him the top option in this rushing attack is quite the understatement. Dowdle will try and keep it up in Week 14 against the Bengals on Monday.
  • NYG Quarterback #2
Drew Lock completed 21-of-32 passes for 178 yards with an interception in the Giants’ 27-20, Week 13 loss to the Cowboys while adding 57 yards rushing with a touchdown.
Lock scrambled in late in the fourth quarter to get the Giants to within a touchdown. He also just missed another rushing score as he didn’t quite the football over the pylon on a 28-yard run. The rushing yards — particularly the score — is nice, but he was ineffective throwing the football, and he also lost a fumble on top of the interception that was returned for six. Lock could get another start against the Saints in Week 14, but fantasy managers should continue to look elsewhere.
  • DAL Quarterback #10
Cooper Rush completed 21-of-36 passes for 195 yards with a touchdown in the Cowboys’ 27-20, Week 13 win over the Giants.
Rush was hurt by drops Thursday, with three coming from the normally reliable CeeDee Lamb. There were missed throws, however, and he remained slow to recognize open receivers. Good enough for a win, however; mainly because the Giants’ offense was anemic for three-plus quarters. Rush will be a low-end QB2 against the Bengals on Monday Night Football.
  • Rakeem Nunez-Roches (neck) has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 13 against the Cowboys.
Nunez-Roches picked up a stinger in the second half, and the 31-year-old defender won’t be able to continue. It’s another loss to the defensive line in a game where the Giants have already lost Dexter Lawrence (elbow) and DJ Davidson (knee) in Week 13.
  • NYG Defensive Tackle #97
Dexter Lawrence (elbow) has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 13 against the Cowboys.
It’s a big loss for the Giants as Lawrence is one of the best interior defensive lineman in the sport. Lawrence picked up the injury in the third quarter, and he’ll be replaced by Jordan Riley as the nose for the remainder of the contest.
