    Bills released WR Justin Shorter.
Shorter managed just two catches for 15 yards in two preseason games and didn’t make much of an impact in training camp. The 2023 fifth round pick will look to catch on with another team’s practice squad in the coming weeks.

Cowboys hired Jets DL coach Aaron Whitecotton as their new DL coach.
Whitecotton has generally followed former Jets head coach Robert Saleh wherever he goes, coaching under Saleh with the Jets, 49ers and Jaguars. Whitecotton brings an exciting track record with him to Dallas. The Jets’ defensive line totaled 75.0 NFL sacks over the last two seasons; good for the eight-most in the NFL.

Buccaneers interviewed pass game coordinator Josh Grizzard for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
Grizzard entered the NFL coaching ranks as an offensive quality control coach with the Dolphins in 2017. He switched to the overall quality control coach for the 2019 season before handling wide receiver coach duties in 2020-2021. He then returned to the offensive quality control coach role when Mike McDaniel was hired as head coach in 2022. The Buccaneers later brought him over to fill the pass game coordinator role in 2024. The Buccaneers’ passing offense was highly successful this season and the team no doubt values the potential schematic continuity Grizzard offers following Liam Coen’s departure.

ESPN’s Jamison Hensley reports “Ravens assistant head coach and defensive pass game coordinator Chris Hewitt will not return” for the Ravens’ 2025 season.
Hewitt signed on with the Ravens in 2012 as a defensive backs coach and later assumed the defensive pass game coordinator position in 2020. Hewitt added secondary coach responsibilities in 2022 before receiving the assistant head coach title in 2024 as well. Hewitt interviewed for the Jaguars defensive coordinator vacancy earlier this month.
  • PHI Center #51
Eagles C Cam Jurgens (back) did not practice on Wednesday.
Jurgens gets an extended break to rehab his nagging back issue, as does Dickerson, who is listed with a knee injury. Dickerson notably suffered a knee injury in Week 15 against the Steelers but avoided missing time, aside from Week 18, which many Eagles starters took off. Both players can be safely expected to play in Super Bowl LIX against the Chiefs.
  • HOU Coaching Staff
Texans will interview senior offensive assistant Bill Lazor for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
Lazor has had three stints as an offensive coordinator in the NFL. None lasted more than two seasons and he was fired midway through his second year in Miami. Of his six offenses, only one finished above the league average in points or yards. Lazor has spent the past two years in Houston. While the Texans had to make a change following a wildly disappointing 2024 season on offense, going from Bobby Slowik to Lazor would be a particularly uninspiring move for the franchise.
  • PHI Running Back #14
Kenneth Gainwell (concussion/knee) did not practice on Wednesday.
The concussion forced Gainwell from play in the NFC Championship Game but the knee issue is new. No. 3 RB Will Shipley proved he can handle the Eagles’ primary backup role last week but Gainwell does have ample time to get back to being game-ready.
  • PHI Tight End #88
Dallas Goedert (rest/ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.
The ankle issue sidelined Goedert for two practices last week but he successfully played through it, catching 7-of-8 targets for 85 yards. Goedert should be good to go for Super Bowl LIX against the Chiefs.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #6
DeVonta Smith (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday.
The Eagles did not hold an official practice today so this is just an estimation but Smith’s return to the injury report is notable. He dealt with a nagging, multi-week hamstring strain earlier this season that kept him sidelined in Weeks 12-13. Hopefully, Smith can get fully healthy by February 9th.

Tulane OL coach Dan Roushar is expected to interview for the Bears’ vacant offensive line coach position.
Roushar notably spent 2013-2022 in various coaching staff roles with the Saints, nine of which were spent with Sean Payton serving as head coach. New Bears head coach Ben Johnson has already hired two former Payton mentees, DC Dennis Allen and OC Declan Doyle. Roushar has held the OL coaching role with seven organizations at the pro and college levels. The Bears are also interviewing Ohio State OL coach and associate head coach on offense Justin Frye.

Cowboys interviewed Cardinals offensive line coach Klayton Adams for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
Adams spent four years with the Colts before joining Arizona in his current role two seasons ago. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said earlier this week that the team needs a coordinator who is “outstanding in the run game area.” Klayton’s Cardinals averaged 144 rushing yards per game last year, seventh-most in the league. They ranked eighth in EPA per rush attempt. Newly minted head coach Brian Schottenheimer will be calling the plays in Dallas, but Adams could be a helpful addition to the staff.
