  • KC Wide Receiver #5
NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports Hollywood Brown will miss 4-6 weeks with a sternoclavicular injury.
We now have a clearer picture of how much time Brown will be out of commission. With the Chiefs opening up at home in three weeks, Brown is likely to miss that game and possibly a few others. Xavier Worthy would be first in line to get a bump in usage, while Rashee Rice is already the team’s WR1. The positive is that he was able to avoid surgery so it won’t be the end of the world for fantasy managers who roster him.
  • CLE Quarterback #4
Deshaun Watson’s attorney released a statement denying the most recent sexual misconduct allegation against him.
Watson’s attorneys said in the statement that he would defend himself in court “at the appropriate time.” Watson, per the statement, is “going to focus his effort and concentration on football.” The legal filing against Watson claims the misconduct happened four years ago when he was a member of the Houston Texans. Watson in 2020 faced dozens of sexual misconduct allegations, all of which he denied.
  • IND Wide Receiver #1
Josh Downs (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday.
The Colts have long targeted a Week 2 return for Downs, who suffered a high ankle sprain last month during training camp. It’s possible Downs could see limited usage in his return to the Colts lineup. With Downs sidelined in Week 1 against the Texans, Adonai Mitchell and Alec pierce joined Michael Pittman in three-receiver sets. Pierce had two long connections with Anthony Richardson while Mitchell turned 85 air yards into two actual yards.
  • IND Kicker #7
Colts K Matt Gay (hernia) practiced Wednesday.
Gay missed Week 1 while recovering from a hernia he suffered in August. Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Gay will be “good to go” for Week 2 against Green Bay. He should be a reliable fantasy option with the Colts entering the game as heavy favorites against the Jordan Love-less Packers.
  • MIA Running Back #28
De’Von Achane (ankle) is considered a game-time decision for Week 2 against the Bills.
Achane was able to get in a walkthrough practice on Wednesday. Raheem Mostert will miss Thursday night’s game with a chest injury he sustained last week against Jacksonville. Achane, meanwhile, picked up an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of that game and could be held out against Buffalo. That would leave Jeff Wilson as the likely lead back for Miami with rookie Jaylen Wright mixing in. Wilson in Week 1 had five carries for 26 yards. Wright was a Week 1 healthy scratch.
  • MIA Running Back #31
Raheem Mostert (chest) has been ruled out for Week 2 against the Bills.
Mostert did not practice this week after picking up the chest injury in Week 1 against the Jaguars. It’s a short week for the Dolphins, who face the Bills on Thursday night. Ten days between Miami’s Week 2 and Week 3 games should give Mostert a chance to suit up next week, though his practice participation will be worth monitoring. De’Vone Achane (ankle) is considered a game-time decision for Thursday night against Buffalo. Jeff Wilson could have a prominent role against the Bills with Mostert down.
  • SF Running Back #23
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Christian McCaffrey is dealing with a calf strain and Achilles tendinitis.
Shanahan said McCaffrey dealt with similar issues last January during the team’s run to the Super Bowl. If Week 1 had been a postseason game, Shanahan said, CMC would have suited up. Look for the Niners to exercise extreme caution with McCaffrey in the coming weeks, riding Jordan Mason as the lead back until McCaffrey is ready to return to action. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Monday night that CMC has a “real chance” of sitting in Week 2 against Minnesota. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said McCaffrey “feels like a long shot” for Week 2.
  • ARI Tackle #73
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Cardinals RT Jonah Williams is “expected to miss some time” due to a knee injury.
The Cardinals signed Williams to a two-year, $30 million deal in the offseason. He started his career as a left tackle, but switched to right at the end of his Bengals tenure. Williams stayed at right tackle for Arizona, with Paris Johnson transitioning to start at left tackle. The offensive line allowed four sacks to the Bills in a Week 1 loss and now the additional shuffling with Williams’ injury brings more uncertainty to Kyler Murray’s protection.
  • LV Linebacker #45
Raiders signed EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson to the team’s practice squad.
Chaisson is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars, totaling five sacks in four seasons. The Jags did not pick up his fifth-year option, sending him into free agency this offseason where he signed with the Panthers. He was let go by Carolina prior to the season’s start, and now the Raiders will try to get something out of him from the practice squad.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #83
Dolphins WR Malik Washington (quadricep) did not participate in Tuesday’s practice.
Washington is listed with a DNP for a second straight day after he also missed Week 1 with a quad issue. He suffered a setback heading into the season opener and continues to stay out of practice. With a short week before a Thursday night game against the Bills, Washington is in danger of missing Week 2 as well.
  • MIA Running Back #28
Dolphins RB De’Von Achane (ankle) did not participate in Tuesday’s practice.
Achane was an impactful rusher and route-runner in Sunday’s win over the Jaguars, but came away banged-up. He has now been listed as a non-participant for the second straight day due to an ankle injury, just ahead of the Dolphins’ Week 2 Thursday matchup against the Bills. Raheem Mostert (chest) was also held out of practice. Rookie RB Jaylen Wright is next man up, but told Dolphins beat reporter David Furones that he will “still expect them to play.” Wednesday will paint a clearer picture of how ready Achane and Mostert will be to play on a short turnaround. In case they do not go, Wright has RB2 upside while Jeff Wilson will see some touches as well.
