  • LV Wide Receiver #16
Raiders HC Antonio Pierce said Jakobi Meyers has “been lights-out” in camp.
Speaking with ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Pierce said Meyers has “really, really, really stepped up his game.” In his first year with the Raiders, Meyers totaled 71 receptions for 807 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns while playing 71.8 percent of his snaps out wide — also a career-high. Meyers had played primarily as a slot receiver during his four years in New England but is now making noise as an outside threat opposite Davante Adams. His strong 2023 campaign was fueled by a lot of early-season production, with five of his eight scores coming in the first seven weeks of the season. The Raiders’ offense isn’t expected to be great this season, with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell both likely to see playing time. Meyers is likely best viewed as a low-end WR3 who could provide the occasional top-24 week. O’Connell took over as the team’s starter in Week 9. Meyers averaged 12.3 fantasy points per game and had four top-24 weeks in nine games.
  • PIT Running Back #30
Mike Tomlin said RB Jaylen Warren (hamstring) is “healthy enough.”
He wouldn’t go as far as to say Warren was fully healthy, noting it would be a slippery slope to do so. Warren’s reps were seemingly limited in Week 1 as he totaled just four touches, two carries and two caches. Meanwhile, Arthur Smith alumni Cordarrelle Patterson ran the rock four times. Warren could be an exciting fantasy RB2 when up to full speed, but it’s impossible to count on that for Week 2. He will rank as an RB4 until his workload increases.
  • PIT Quarterback #3
Mike Tomlin said Russell Wilson (calf) is expected to be limited in Tuesday’s practice.
Wilson was limited in Thursday and Friday’s practices last week but didn’t play. Justin Fields drew the start and won an ugly game versus the Falcons. Tomlin told reporters today that the team is preparing as if Fields is their Week 2 starter. Even if Wilson is healthy enough to play, it doesn’t look like he will be under center versus the Broncos. At this point, Fields may need to lose the job for Wilson to take a snap.
  • PIT Quarterback #2
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said the team is “preparing as if Justin Fields is our quarterback.”
Tomlin also told reporters the team’s depth chart is unchanged, meaning Russell Wilson is still the starter when healthy. However, opening by saying the team is preparing for Fields suggests Wilson will miss Week 2 as well. He was forced to miss Week 1 with a lingering calf issue, giving Fields the start. Fields didn’t get a touchdown on the board versus Atlanta but did lead six drives that ended in field goals. Those 18 points were enough to topple the hapless Falcons. He also ran 14 times for 57 yards. Fields will be a high-end QB2 for his Week 2 matchup with the Broncos.
  • MIN Defensive Tackle #97
Vikings signed DT Harrison Phillips to a two-year contract extension.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the deal is worth “up to” $19 million with over $13 million guaranteed. Phillips was set to hit free agency next offseason but is now under contract for two more years. He started all 34 regular season games for the Vikings over the past two seasons and tallied 4.5 sacks plus five TFLs during that stretch. He came away from Week 1 with a sack and a TFL, setting him up for a potential career year.
  • FA Tight End #82
Browns hosted free agent TE Irv Smith Jr. for a visit.
The Browns also hosted free agent tight ends Tommy Sweeney and Geoff Swaim for visits. David Njoku suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 and the visits suggest Cleveland expects him to miss some time. He is currently considered week-to-week. Smith was most recently cut by the Chiefs. Despite his second-round pedigree, Smith has failed to make much of an impact in the NFL. He would not be a fantasy option if he signs with Cleveland.
  • CLE Linebacker #47
Browns signed LB Khaleke Hudson off the Saints’ practice squad.
Hudson entered the league as a fifth-round pick for the Commanders in 2020. He was a high-volume special teams player in Washington for four years and made eight starts at linebacker in 2023. Hudson didn’t make the Saints final roster after signing with them this offseason but landed on the team’s practice squad and was called up for Week 1. He will now be a permanent fixture of the Browns’ 53-man roster.
  • NYG Tight End #89
Giants signed FB Jakob Johnson to their active roster.
The Giants gave Johnson an extended look in their final preseason game but cut him at the roster deadline. He then landed on the team’s practice squad. With Daniel Jones being sacked five times in Week 1, Brian Daboll may see Johnson’s blocking as a necessity to protect his quarterback. The veteran fullback should also see some work on special teams.
  • DAL Tight End #87
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he is optimistic about Jake Ferguson (knee) playing in Week 2 against the Saints.
Ferguson suffered an MCL sprain in Week 1 and was initially expected to miss some time. The reports have since gotten more optimistic, including that of Jerry Jones. Fantasy managers should still have a contingency plan for Ferguson, but he appears to have a legitimate shot at suiting up this week despite the injury scare. If he can’t go, backup Luke Schoonmaker would be in line to start.
  • SF Running Back #23
ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes there’s a “real chance” Christian McCaffrey is out for Week 2 against the Vikings.
Schefter said McCaffrey is dealing with a calf and an Achilles issue that could keep him sidelined for Week 2. CMC was a last-second scratch Monday night against the Jets, leaving Jordan Mason to run roughshod over New York’s defense to the tune of 147 yards and a touchdown. It appears McCaffrey’s injury is far more serious than first thought. Mason will be a top-12 running back option until CMC can return.
  • DAL Tackle #78
Cowboys restructured OT Terence Steele’s contract.
Per ESPN’s Field Yates, the move clears up $4.5 million in cap space for Dallas. The Cowboys’ long-term right tackle signed a five-year, $86.8 million extension last offseason.
