The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports “there are a few teams interested” in Jimmy Garoppolo.
As Russini points out, the Raiders are expected to cut Garoppolo on Wednesday, leaving him free to sign with any team. The veteran quarterback will serve a two-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substances policy but will be ready to play come Week 3. Officially one-and-done in Vegas, Garoppolo was brought in last season because of his familiarity with former Raiders head coach Josh McDaniel. Garoppolo threw for 1,205-7-9 in seven games with the Raiders last season but wound up being benched for rookie Aidan O’Connell after Week 8’s loss to the Lions. With the starting quarterback market largely dried up, Garoppolo is most likely to catch on as a bridge for a rookie or a veteran backup.
