  • LV Coaching Staff
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Raiders granted permission to the Commanders to speak with passing game coordinator Jason Simmons.
Simmons has a relationship with defensive coordinator Joe Whitt dating back to their days in Green Bay. While his role with the Commanders, should he get the job, hasn’t been specifically stated, Simmons is “considered a prime candidate” for a position on Washington’s defensive staff.
  • CAR Tight End #82
Panthers TE Tommy Tremble (concussion) is questionable to return in Week 5 against the Bears.
Tremble took a shot in the second quarter on a short reception, fumbled the ball, and stayed on the field for a while. He eventually left the field under his own power but was taken to the locker room by trainers. J’Tavion Sanders will see ann uptick in routes with Tremble possibly done for the day.
  • MIN Tight End #86
Johnny Mundt caught his only two targets for 31 yards in Minnesota’s Week 5 win over the Jets.
You don’t need to roster him. Josh Oliver went catchless. The Vikings are on bye next week, and Mundt will be working on his blocking rather than his receiving.
  • MIN Wide Receiver #3
Jordan Addison caught 3-of-8 targets for 36 yards in Minnesota’s Week 5 win over the Jets.
With Sam Darnold combusting today none of the Vikings secondary pass-catchers had much of a chance at delivering a big fantasy day. Addison’s longest reception went for 26 yards and came as Sauce Gardner was hit by friendly fire, leaving Addison wide open. Addison is probably still on the WR3/FLEX line and probably worth keeping through his Week 6 bye even if you need short-term reinforcements.
  • MIN Wide Receiver #18
Justin Jefferson caught 6-of-14 targets for 92 yards in Minnesota’s Week 5 win over the Jets.
He fumbled his first target out of bounds. Sam Darnold was locked in on Jefferson deep for most of the game but the two simply couldn’t connect after Darnold’s magic from Weeks 1 to 4 disappeared and the Jets hung 61 penalty yards on Jefferson alone. Unfortunately those yards do not count for the purposes of fantasy football. Jefferson remains an elite WR1 as the Vikings head on their Week 6 bye, but Jefferson-reliant managers should be hoping the return of Bad Darnold was a one-week blip instead of a trend.
  • CIN Cornerback #23
Bengals CB Dax Hill suffered a right knee injury in Cincinnati’s Week 5 game against the Ravens and will not return.
The Bengals’ starting left corner, Hill twisted up his knee trying to cut in the first quarter. He was immediately ruled out, which is always a bad sign. Hill did walk under his own power to the locker room. Perhaps he has avoided a season-ending injury. The 2022 first-rounder had been having a better campaign than the past two years.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #12
Nico Collins (hamstring) left Houston’s Week 5 game against the Bills and is questionable to return.
Collins pulled up after scoring a 67-yard touchdown, was checked in the blue medical tent, and headed to the locker room. He had spent some time on the injury report in previous weeks with a hamstring injury, so it’s possible he re-aggravated an injury. Obviously a Collins extended absence would be huge injury news with many fantasy implications.
  • MIN Running Back #32
Ty Chandler rushed 14 times for 30 yards in Minnesota’s Week 5 win over the Jets.
He added two catches for nine yards, and had a 32-yard run called back for an illegal shift at the line of scrimmage. C.J. Ham vultured a goal-line score. This wasn’t exactly the line you were hoping for as Aaron Jones left. Chandler has a chance to come back in Week 7 as the lead back if Jones’ hip injury is serious, so he’s probably a hold even during the Week 6 bye.
  • MIA Running Back #28
De’Von Achane (concussion) has been ruled out in Week 5 against the Patriots.
Achane took a shot to the head on an end-around in the first quarter. He was seen in the fencing position, which often indicates a brain injury. Achane was slow to make his way to the blue medical tent and was then escorted to the Miami locker room. Achane will enter the concussion protocol and has a real chance of missing Week 6. Raheem Mostert would function as the Dolphins’ workhorse if Achane were to miss time.
  • MIA Running Back #28
De’Von Achane is being evaluated for a concussion.
Achane took a wicked shot to the head on an end-around run in the first quarter. Achane was seen in the dreaded fencing position shortly after the head shot, which often indicates a brain injury. He was helped to the blue medical tent and would seem unlikely to return in Week 5 against the Patriots. Raheem Mostert would slot in as the team’s RB1 if Achane misses time.
  • MIN Quarterback #14
Sam Darnold completed 14-of-31 passes for 179 yards and an interception in Minnesota’s 23-17 Week 5 win over the Jets.
He left for a play after taking a sack in the second quarter, but immediately returned. Darnold’s easy throws from Week 1-4 largely disappeared after Minnesota’s first drive, and the second-half offense became “target Justin Jefferson for defensive penalties or incompletions” with Aaron Jones out. His one pick was ghastly and Darnold’s off-script throws resembled Darnold Classic rather than 2024’s new and improved version. Darnold isn’t necessarily someone you must hold in 1QB leagues as he enters his Week 6 bye, but he’ll likely remain a viable low-end QB1 under Kevin O’Connell.
