Steelers owner Art Rooney II said the Steelers offense said Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren should be the “foundation” of the team’s offense.
Rooney said he was encouraged by strong finishes to the 2023 regular season for both Warren and Harris, as the Steelers determine whether to pick up Harris’ fifth-year option. “I really feel good about having a two-headed monster, if you will, at running back,” Rooney said after the Steelers hired former Falcons head coach Arthur Smith as offensive coordinator. “Two different style running backs, both very capable, and I think — with the right offensive line — can provide a real foundation for success going forward.” Smith, meanwhile, has orchestrated some of the run heaviest offensive schemes in the NFL over the past five years, both in Tennessee as an OC and in Atlanta, where the Falcons were third in rush EPA in 2022 before a catastrophic rushing performance in 2023. While making an OC hire based on two running backs — one of whom (Harris) is entering his age-26 season — is certainly a questionable move, Smith is sure to give hefty workloads to Harris and Warren in 2024.
  • SEA Tight End #87

Noah Fant (groin) was a full participant in Thursday’s practice.
That makes two straight full practices for Fant. The former first-round pick has missed all of November while being limited by the groin injury, but it appears likely that Fant will be an option for Geno Smith and the Seahawks’ passing attack against the Jets in Week 13.
  • FA Linebacker #58
The Dolphins elected not to activate Shaquil Barrett off the reserve/retirement list.
The Dolphins had until Thursday to activate the 32-year-old, and have decided to not do so even with Barrett applying for reinstatement in hopes of playing in 2024. Miami will not release the 32-year-old, so he won’t be able to play for anyone until 2025.
  • NYG EDGE #98
D.J. Davidson (shoulder) is questionable to return against the Cowboys in Week 13.
Davidson hurt his shoulder during the second quarter of the Thanksgiving contest. The massive defensive tackle will see his snaps taken by Jordan Riley and the rest of the New York rotation.
  • NO Running Back #21
Jamaal Williams (groin) was limited during Thursday’s practice.
Williams has not played over the last three weeks because of his groin injury, and with back-to-back limited sessions, there’s a decent chance the return won’t come in Week 13 against the Rams. If he was able to get in a full practice Friday, however, that tune could change.
  • LAR Tight End #89
Tyler Higbee (knee) was limited during Thursday’s practice.
That makes back-to-back limited session for the tight end. Higbee has not been able to play since the end of July, and the 31-year-old is likely to miss at least more game before having a chance to return in Week 14 against Bills.
  • MIA Quarterback #18
Dolphins activated QB Tyler Huntley off injured reserve.
Huntley has been out since the end of October with his shoulder injury. The 26-year-old will be the backup to Tua Tagovailoa now that he’s healthy enough to return.
  • DAL Safety #30
Juanyeh Thomas was carted off in the second quarter of Week 13’s game against the Giants.
Thomas was injured while attempting to make a tackle on a kickoff return, and was unable to leave on his own. The 24-year-old safeties absence is a blow to the depth for the Dallas secondary and special teams;.
  • DAL Tackle
Tyler Guyton is questionable to return in Week 13 against the Giants with an ankle and knee injury.
Guyton was rolled up on early in the contest and looked to be in a good amount of pain. The first-round pick will hope to return later in the contest, but he’s been replaced for now by Chuma Edoga.
  • TEN Running Back #2
Tyjae Spears was listed as a full participant for Thursday’s practice.
It’s a return to action after Spears did not practice Wednesday while remaining in the concussion protocol. Assuming the 23-year-old is able to play in Week 13 against the Commanders, he’ll likely be the backup and receive a couple handfuls of touches — at most — behind Tony Pollard for that contest.
  • SF Quarterback #13
Brock Purdy (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant during Thursday’s practice.
Purdy has gotten in back-to-back limited practices after missing Week 12’s blowout loss to the Packers. The 24-year-old signal-caller is considered questionable for the Sunday Night Football tilt against the Bills, but it seems more very plausible that he’ll be able to return after his one-game absence. Friday will be big for him and those chances.
