  • NYJ Defensive Lineman #97
Jets DT Perrion Winfrey was carted off the field with an apparent leg injury in Week 13 against the Falcons.
Winfrey was injured while on the field goal block unit in the third quarter. He was called up from the Jets’ practice squad over the weekend after joining the team a month ago. Much of the Jets team took the field while Winfrey was down. He was eventually carted to the locker room and is certainly done for the day.
  • HOU Running Back #28
Joe Mixon (ankle) was not spotted at Thursday’s practice.
Mixon wasn’t seen at the open portion of practice, and neither was Dameon Pierce, who is also nursing an ankle injury and wasn’t able to play in SNF against the Bears. Mixon picked up his ankle injury during that contest, and hasn’t been at either practice. If Mixon can’t go, Cam Akers will likely dominate the touches for Week 3 against the Vikings, with Dare Ogunbowale getting some work as well.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #5
Bengals HC Zac Taylor told reporters that Tee Higgins (hamstring) will return to practice Thursday
Higgins will be able to participate in practices after missing the first two games of the season with his hamstring issue. The Bengals’ passing game has looked discombobulated at times, but the (potential) return of a talent like Higgins for Joe Burrow will obviously help get it trending back in the right direction. Right now, it does appear likely Higgins will play Monday night against the Commanders.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #12
Nico Collins (hip/foot) is back at practice Thursday.
Collins didn’t practice Wednesday, but it appears that the wideout was just getting a day of maintenance. He’s coming off a monster game where he turned 10 targets into 135 yards with a touchdown, and should be heavily involved again in Week 3 against the Vikings.
  • LAC Quarterback #10
Justin Herbert (ankle) was spotted at practice Thursday.
Herbert was wearing the yellow non-contact jersey. Kris Rhim of ESPN did note that the signal-caller wasn’t participating in any drills during the open part of practice, however. Fantasy managers should wait to see the designation for the practice on the injury report before making QB decisions, but it does appear likely that the 26-year-old will be on the field for Week 3 against the Steelers at this point.
  • CHI Wide Receiver #26
Bears signed WR John Jackson to their practice squad
Johnson was with the team during the offseason and training camp but was one of the final cuts. The 25-year-old will come back with the team and take the spot of EDGE Jamree Kromah, who was signed to the Patriots 53-man roster.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #88
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said he’s “not of high concern” when asked about the availability of CeeDee Lamb (ankle) on Sunday.
Lamb missed practice on Wednesday, as did cornerback Trevon Diggs, but it seems like both players are tracking to be on the field on Sunday for the Cowboys.
  • NYG Kicker #34
Giants special teams coach Michael Ghobrial said Greg Joseph will battle Jude McAtamney to kick for the Giants on Sunday.
Graham Gano will be sidelined with a quad injury, which is why the Giants signed Joseph on Tuesday. Still, he will need to battle with McAtamney, who is currently on the practice squad, to see who gets to handle kicking duties on Sunday in a tough matchup against the Browns.
  • DAL Defensive Tackle #98
Cowboys placed DT Jordan Phillips on the IR with a wrist injury.
When Phillips was asked about his injury he said, “I don’t know. That’s above my pay grade. You have to ask the people making the decisions.” It certainly seems like this was a calculated decision by the Cowboys to keep Phillips on the team while getting another DT on the field on Sundays. We’ll have to see what kind of role Phillips returns to in four weeks. Carlos Watkins was signed to the active roster to take Phillips’ place.
  • CHI Defensive Tackle
Bears signed DL Dashaun Mallory to their practice squad.
Mallory was signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State but was one of the final roster cuts at the end of training camp.
  • IND Kicker #7
Colts K Matt Gay (quad) said he “feels pretty good to go” for Sunday’s game.
Gay also made it clear that he’ll “leave it up to the trainers,” which means we may need to wait another day or two to figure out for sure if he’ll kick in Week 3. The 30-year-old claims the quad issue is something that came as a result of his hernia surgery.
