  • BUF Safety #20
Bills S Taylor Rapp (neck) is out for Week 12 against the Eagles.
Rapp suffered a frightening neck injury last week against the Jets. He didn’t practice this week and will miss at least one game, leaving the Buffalo secondary woefully shorthanded against Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. Bills CB Dane Jackson is also going to miss Week 12. It’s a great matchup for the Eagles pass catchers.
  • DAL Tight End #87
Jake Ferguson (knee) didn’t participate in practice Thursday.
There was some optimism that Ferguson could get into Thursday’s session, but the tight end was not one of the participants for the affair. The tight end will likely need to get in at last a limited practice Friday if he’s going to play in Week 2 against the Saints, but all signs point to Luke Schoonmaker being the started at tight end for that contest.
  • SF Running Back #23
Christian McCaffrey (calf, Achilles) is participating in Thursday’s practice.
McCaffrey is getting a second consecutive practice, although fantasy managers will want to see the designation of whether he’s limited in the session or not. The 28-year-old was a surprise scratch for Monday night football, and there’s a good chance he’ll miss Week 2 against the Vikings as well, despite getting in back-to-back practice sessions.
  • CHI Wide Receiver #13
Bears WR Keenan Allen (heel) did not practice on Thursday.
Allen suited up for Week 1 after logging two limited participant designations before practicing in full on Friday. His inability to practice thus far bodes poorly for his Week 2 availability. Coaches occasionally allow talented veterans to rest throughout the week while managing an injury rather than risking a setback, though even limited participation on Friday would be a positive sign. Fantasy managers should make contingency plans, just to be safe.
  • CHI Wide Receiver #15
Rome Odunze (knee) did not practice Thursday.
Odunze and Keenan Allen (heel) both weren’t available to practice for the second straight day. Odunze was diagnosed with a low-grade MCL sprain, and while there is a chance the 22-year-old could be in action against the Texans on Sunday Night Football, it looks more likely than not he won’t be back until Week 3 at the earliest. Allen seems much more likely to play of the two hurt wideouts.
  • DET Tackle #58
Lions RT Penei Sewell (ankle) did not practice on Thursday.
The injury occurred when a Lions offensive lineman delivered a hit to Rams S Kamren Curl, who was attempting to clog a rushing lane. Curl impacted Sewell’s lower leg laterally, causing Sewell to briefly writhe in pain after the play. Sewell toughed it out, never leaving the field. While Friday’s injury report will be helpful, the team could opt to rest him throughout the week as a precaution, before allowing the two-time defending Pro Bowler to suit up on Sunday.
  • CLE EDGE #95
Myles Garret did not participate in Thursday’s practice with a foot injury.
Garrett is a new name for the injury report, as the 28-year-old had no designation for Wednesday’s session. The Browns also were without Za’Darius Smith Thursday with a back injury. Cleveland’s defense looked not-so-great in the Week 1 loss to the Cowboys, and could be without two of their best players for Week 2 against the Jaguars. There should be further updates on both Friday.
  • DET Wide Receiver #9
Jameson Williams (ankle) was listed as a limited participant for Thursday’s practice.
That makes back-to-back practices that Williams has been limited with the ankle issue. The speedy wideout had a breakout game with a career-high 121 yards against the Rams in Week 1, but his status for the week appears to be heading towards questionable. Fantasy managers will want to make sure to check on Williams’ status come Friday.
  • NYG Wide Receiver #1
Giants WR Malik Nabers (knee) was limited in practice on Thursday.
This is a new injury for Nabers. It is unclear as to when the injury occurred but hopefully, the team shares all relevant information promptly. Nabers’ ability or inability to practice tomorrow likely determines his Week 2 availability. Fantasy managers should make backup plans ahead of time.
  • MIN Wide Receiver #3
Jordan Addison is not practicing Thursday ahead of a Week 2 contest against the 49ers.
Addison also didn’t practice Wednesday as he deals with what is being described as “significant” soreness in his right ankle. The wideout was able to play through the injury in Week 1, but it appears that isn’t going to help him out this week. With Addison likely to miss the contest against San Francisco, Jalen Nailor will be the second wideout behind stalwart Justin jefferson.
  • NYJ Cornerback #4
Jets CB D.J. Reed (sore knee) did not participate in team drills on Thursday.
HC Robert Saleh told reporters yesterday that he expects Reed to play on Sunday, though Reed was able to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. We’ll wait to see Thursday’s official injury report but it appears as though Thursday may be a step in the wrong direction. Regardless, he will likely need to log a limited participant designation on Friday for him to suit up this week. Slot CB Michael Carter II (ankle) was a limited participant on Wednesday as well.
