  • DAL Linebacker #55
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Cowboys are considering putting Leighton Vander Esch on injured reserve after he suffered a neck injury in Week 5’s loss to the 49ers.
Vander Esch would miss at least the next four games if the Cowboys opt to place him on injured reserve. The exact nature of Vander Esch’s injury isn’t quite known, but Vander Esch is a player who has dealt with neck injuries dating back to his college days at Boise State. Given his history, the best thing for Vander Esch could be a stint on injured reserve to ensure he is fully healed before returning to the field.
  • MIA Running Back #25
Jaylen Wright rushed five times for four yards in the Dolphins’ Week 2 loss to the Bills.
Wright wasn’t targeted in the passing game. Not an impressive statistical night, but the Dolphins lost Jeff Wilson to an oblique injury four days after Raheem Mostert injured his chest. Wright could be the RB2 for Week 3 against the Seahawks, but both Mostert and Wilson now have 10 days to get healthier. Wright is worth an end-of-bench spot as fantasy managers wait for things to play out, but the odds still seem low he comes into near-term relevance.
  • MIA Tight End #9
Jonnu Smith caught 6-of-7 targets for 53 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 2 loss to the Bills.
Four days after catching one ball on two looks, Smith tied De’Von Achane for the team lead in targets. It was a function of the Dolphins being afraid to throw down the field vs. the Bills’ two-high safety looks. It was also accelerated after Tua Tagovailoa departed with a third quarter concussion. With Tagovailoa likely looking at a lengthy absence, Smith is probably going to have more check-down/YAC upside than he did before. He’s worth keeping around as a TE2 streamer option ahead of Week 3 vs. the Seahawks.
  • MIA Quarterback #19
Skylar Thompson completed 8-of-14 passes for 80 yards in the Dolphins’ 31-10, Week 2 loss to the Bills.
Forced into the game after Tua Tagovailoa suffered a third quarter concussion, White was mostly tasked with checking down to De’Von Achane. It was a dismal scene, one the Dolphins could be staring at for a while considering Tagovailoa’s concussion history. At the very least, we would fully expect Thompson to start Week 3 against the Seahawks. That’s brutal news for Tyreek Hill and company, though Mike McDaniel’s play-calling and scheme are good enough that we wouldn’t consider it curtains for the Dolphins’ fantasy prospects. Thompson himself, however, will struggle for streaming value.
  • BUF Tight End #88
Dawson Knox was not targeted in the Bills’ Week 2 win over the Dolphins.
Knox now has two looks through two games. Tonight’s doughnut was not egregious with Josh Allen attempting only 19 passes, but it’s safe to say Knox lacks a floor. Although he could pop up for the occasional touchdown, Knox hasn’t demonstrated he belongs in the TE2 streamer mix.
  • BUF Wide Receiver #1
Curtis Samuel caught 1-of-2 targets for three yards in the Bills’ Week 2 win over the Dolphins.
Samuel has just three catches in two games after spending much of the summer battling a toe injury. He ultimately seems likely to mix in for more of his patented Swiss-army type usage, but he is unfortunately looking like an early drop candidate if you took a late-round flier. Neither Samuel’s floor nor ceiling are ultimately that compelling.
  • BUF Running Back #22
Ray Davis rushed nine times for 29 yards in the Bills’ Week 2 win over the Dolphins.
Davis “added” a -1 yard reception. Davis’ nine totes were just two fewer than James Cook’s 11, but six of them came in the fourth quarter of a 31-10 game. This was not the dawning of a committee in Buffalo. Ty Johnson also mixed in for two touches. Davis is more realistically fighting with Johnson than Cook for work at the moment.
  • BUF Wide Receiver #0
Keon Coleman was held without a catch on one target in the Bills’ Week 2 win over the Dolphins.
Four days after leading the Bills in yards and targets, Coleman was nowhere to be found on a night where the Bills didn’t need to open things up offensively. Josh Allen attempted just 19 passes in a 31-10 victory. It speaks to how inconsistent the rookie second-rounder is likely to be as the Bills search for a new identity in their Stefon Diggs-less receiver group.
  • BUF Wide Receiver #10
Khalil Shakir caught 5-of-5 targets for 54 yards in the Bills’ Week 2 win over the Dolphins.
Although 5/54 is nothing to call home about, Shakir was the Bills’ most targeted and productive wideout on a night where Josh Allen went just 13-of-19 for 139 yards in a game the Bills dominated defensively. It’s difficult to spot the overall ceiling with Shakir, but he’s established a floor and has the most well-rounded game in the Bills’ new-look receiver corps. He’s worth keeping around as a WR4/5 headed into Week 3 vs. the Jaguars.
  • MIA Running Back #23
Jeff Wilson caught 2-of-2 targets for 12 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 2 loss to the Bills before departing with an oblique injury.
Wilson was held without a carry before going down in the fourth quarter. Even with Raheem Mostert out with a chest injury, Wilson was very lightly used, surprising since De’Von Achane was supposedly questionable with an ankle injury in a contest that quickly become non-competitive. If you added Wilson as a Mostert/Achane hedge, he can safely be dropped ahead of Week 3 against the Seahawks.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #17
Jaylen Waddle caught 4-of-4 targets for 41 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 2 loss to the Bills, adding a four-yard rush.
With the Bills’ defense dominating the proceedings before Tua Tagovailoa departed with a third quarter concussion, neither Waddle nor anyone else could stuff the stat sheet. The task, obviously, got that much harder following Tagovailoa’s departure. Whereas Tyreek Hill’s game is so unique as to almost be quarterback-proof, Waddle could have a tougher time as the secondary option. Of course, his check-down potential could also be in greater demand. Even if it’s Skylar Thompson starting against the Seahawks in Week 3 — which seems highly likely — we will probably keep Waddle in the top 24.
