Buccaneers selected Eastern Michigan EDGE Jose Ramirez with the No. 196 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Ramirez (6’2/242) is a classic undersized MAC edge rusher who wins with superior technique, a deep toolbox, and pure guile. A penetrator in both phases, he recorded an absurd 19.5 TFL and 12.0 sacks while earning Second Team All-American recognition, a rare feat for an Eastern Michigan player. The team captain earned the fourth-highest PFF true pass rush grade in the country last year (91.8) in addition to missing just five tackle opportunities for a strong 8.6% miss rate. Ramirez is never going to be an every-down player due to his lack of size and raw power. However his 1.58s 10-yard split is a 97th% mark and his 6.95s 3-Cone was the best time in the entire 2023 edge class, so he’s got legitimate athleticism. He’s one of the better Day 3 pass rush sub-package prospect in the Day 3 mix.
