Seahawks selected Auburn EDGE Derick Hall with the No. 37 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
A twitchy pocket pusher with advanced athleticism, Hall (6’3/253) led Auburn with 24.5 TFL and 16.0 sacks over his final two All-SEC campaigns. The team captain has a motor that won’t quit and is blindingly quick off the snap, which aids his formidable speed-to-power transition on the rush. Though he doesn’t have a dizzying array of moves, Hall’s quick first step and effective long arm technique allow him to harass opposing signal callers, as his 90 pressures and 82.4 PFF pass rush grade over the past two years will attest. Hall explodes into contact and is a spirited run defender, though he can be walled off by bigger OL if he doesn’t land his hands properly. He put on a show at the Combine, hitting 95th percentile+ marks with a 4.57s 40-yard dash, 1.55s 10-yard split, and 4.2s 3-Cone drill for a legit 9.40 RAS. Though Hall doesn’t have the body flexibility to bend the edge in a traditional sense, his burst and advanced power bode well for his future as a passing down specialist.
