  • Linebacker #33
    Falcons signed LB Tae Davis.
Davis spent 2022 on the Browns’ practice squad, appearing in just five games. The 25-year-old will compete for a role on special teams in Atlanta.

  • NO Head Coach
Saints HC Dennis Allen told reporters the team is tracking the progress of Tropical Storm Francine.
Allen added that he does not foresee the need to evacuate at this time but that the storm could alter the team’s late-week practice plans on Thursday and Friday. That said, weather forecasters currently will not rule out the possibility that the tropical storm develops into hurricane strength in the coming days, something that could change current plans.
  • NYJ Running Back #25
Jets declared RB Israel Abanikanda, OL Max Mitchell, OT Carter Warren, TE Brenden Bates, DL Eric Watts, DL Leonard Taylor, and CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse inactive for Week 1 against the 49ers.
Nothing much to see here other than penning in Braelon Allen as the clear backup to starting running back Breece Hall. As expected, Mike Williams is active for Week 1 but is reportedly on some sort of snap count.
  • SF Running Back #23
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (calf) inactive for Week 1 against the Jets.
McCaffrey missed significant time in camp and preseason with a calf strain that flared up and will ultimately miss the team’s Week 1 game agains the Jets because of it. Expect Jordan Mason to handle significant work out of the backfield for the 49ers while Deebo Samuel could see additional rushing usage as well. Also inactive for the 49ers are QB Joshua Dobbs, CB Darrell Luter Jr, S Talanoa Hufanga, DL Yetur Gross-Matos, LB Dee Winters, and OL Ben Bartch.
  • BUF Defensive Back #7
Bills HC Mike McDermott told reporters DB Taron Johnson will not play in Week 2 against the Dolphins.
The Bills’ defense suddenly finds itself in a state of disarray after losing Matt Milano and Taron Johnson within the span of a week. This is in addition to the offseason departures of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. That’s a tough hand to be dealt with the Dolphins on tap in Week 2.
  • NYG Wide Receiver #11
    Giants signed WR/KR Ihmir Smith-Marsette.
The veteran special teams ace last played for the Panthers and was signed following the injury to Gunner Olszewski. Smith-Marsette shouldn’t be counted on for many, if any, offensive snaps at wide receiver at this point in his career, meaning he can be left on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues.
  • CLE Quarterback #4
An additional civil lawsuit was filed in Houston Monday against Browns QB Deshaun Watson.
The civil suit alleges sexual misconduct, assault, and battery and was filed in Houston on Monday. The NFL has no comment on the new lawsuit but is surely tracking its proceedings. The filings claim the misconduct occurred in 2020 while Watson was a member of the Texans.
  • CLE Wide Receiver #19
Browns signed WR Kadarius Toney, formerly of the Chiefs.
Toney also took a visit with the Seahawks but ultimately inked a deal with the Browns ahead of Week 2. It is unclear what kind of workload to expect from Toney in Cleveland considering their current depth chart, with the enigmatic receiver likely entering the kick return discussion as well as unique packages on offense. He can safely remain on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues.
  • Buccaneers HC Todd Bowles said S Antoine Winfield Jr. (ankle) could miss 2-4 weeks.
Winfield was one of four defensive backs to get inured in Week 1, leaving the team with innumerable question marks on the back end for the immediate future. That’s not exactly the best news with a road matchup with the Lions on tap in Week 2, particularly considering the Week 1 breakout of Jameson Williams.
  • SF Tackle #71
49ers activated OT Trent Williams (contract) ahead of their Monday Night Football game against the Jets.
Williams will be active for Week 1 and is reportedly set to see a normal allotment of snaps, which can’t be said for fellow contract hold-in Brandon Aiyuk. The fact that Williams will return to his normal workload is good news against the vaunted pass rush of the Jets under the big light on Monday Night Football.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #83
Dolphins WR Malik Washington (quadricep) did not practice Monday.
The electric rookie receiver missed Week 1 after appearing to suffer a setback with his quadricep. He logged limited sessions on Wednesday and Thursday last week before being downgraded on Friday. It now appears as if the ailment is more serious than initially reported, meaning his professional debut could have to wait another week with the Dolphins on a short week for Week 2.
