Kamara flashed RB1 numbers on the ground and through the air. His rushing line of 15 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown undersells both how extensive and creative his workload was versus Carolina. Jamaal Williams’ 11 totes were almost exclusively the product of garbage time as Kamara out-carried him 15-7 through three quarters. Kamara got the fourth quarter off while Williams added four carries, one of which was a touchdown, to his box score in the final frame. Kamara also ran five routes from the slot. It was his first time with as many slot routes since Sean Payton retired after the 2021 season. Had the Panthers kept the matchup remotely competitive, Kamara could have come away with a monstrous fantasy outing. The combination of a creative pass-catching role and an elite workload on the ground will put Kamara firmly in the RB1 conversation for Week 2.

That’s good news for the 25-year-old tight end. Ferguson was diagnosed with an MCL injury, but it appears to be not as significant as first feared. He still should be considered questionable for Week 2 against the Saints, but even if he misses that contest, there’s a great chance Ferguson is back in action by the end of the month.

The signing becomes necessary after the Steelers lost punter Cameron Johnston to a season-ending knee injury. The 29-year-old has had a couple previous stints with the Steelers, and was last active in the NFL with the Patriots before being cut in 2023.

Seibert will be the replacement for Cade York after the Commanders released York on Monday following an 0-for-2 kicking display. Siebert made his only attempt as a member of the Lions in 2023, and has a career mark of 80.4 percent in 56 attempts.

The 23-year-old looked like one of the best kicking prospects to come out of the draft in a long time back in 2022, but maybe there’s no such thing as a kicking prospect. The Commanders will now be looking for a new kicker for Week 2 against the Giants. This is also somewhat significant for the Browns, as the York trade stipulated that York had to be on the roster for two games for the team to get a conditional seventh-round pick.

Downs was ruled out Friday for the opener against the Texans, and all Steichen mentioned was that the wideout will be “monitored” for the week. The 23-year-old seems likely to also be out of action as well for Sunday’s Week 2 tilt against the Packers, which means more snaps for Adonai Mitchell, Alec Pierce and Ashton Dulin.

Smith Jr. was released by the Chiefs before the start of the season. The 26-year-old has dealt with injuries and hasn’t been particularly effective even when on the field, and he’d be nothing more than organizational depth for whatever team signs him.
